Women's Soccer Head Coach Jake Wyman Resigns

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – After seven seasons at the helm and ten overall, Jake Wyman has announced his resignation as Montevallo Women's Soccer Head Coach.

"I would like to thank Jake for all he has done for our program over the last seven years," said Athletic Director Mark Richard. "His leadership and hard work was integral to the success of Montevallo Women's Soccer over the last ten seasons, and we wish him and his family the best in his future endeavors."

Wyman's career at Montevallo ends as one of the most successful in the program's history after amassing a 78-36-17 overall record and a 41-17-11 mark in conference play for a .660 winning percentage, the highest in program history. His 78 wins mark the second-most by any Montevallo head coach in the Div. II era while his 41 conference victories also rank second in the Falcons' Div. II stint.

"The Last 10 Years at Montevallo have been nothing short of incredible," said Wyman. "Mark Richard and the athletic department have been so supportive of my family and I. A decade of Falcon Footy has certainly changed the trajectory of my life. To all the players that I've had the privilege to coach, thank you. All the success we've been able to have is because of you. To my staff, Trey [Trey Gregory] and Comp [Amanda Compton], couldn't do it without you and I'm so grateful for our time we had together. Thank you to all my former assistant coaches and all the players here, we've shared some incredible moments together."

Wyman led Montevallo to a 2019 Gulf South Conference Tournament Championship and a program record of three NCAA Tournament appearances including back-to-back selections in the 2024 and 2025. The Falcons' 2024 campaign saw Montevallo advance to the South Region Title game for just the second time in program history.

Following the 2019 season, Wyman was named GSC Coach of the Year while also receiving the United Soccer Coaches South Region Staff of the Year award after leading Montevallo to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in over a decade. His tutelage produced a total of 21 All-GSC Selections and 16 All-South Region honorees while adding a pair of GSC Freshman of the Year awards in 2022 and 2025.

Wyman's teams set multiple program records including the highest winning percentage in a single season at .750 in 2022, the top five longest winning streaks in Montevallo's Div. II history including a record seven-consecutive in the 2023 season, the top four seasons with the most shutouts with a record-setting 11 clean sheets in 2023, and the top six streaks of consecutive shutouts with a record five-consecutive clean sheets in 2025 and 2023. In the Montevallo women's soccer record book, Wyman led Montevallo to five of its six winningest seasons in the Div. II era.
