Series Notes:
  • Since winning the first-ever meeting in 2000, Montevallo is 3-16-2 against West Florida all-time. The Falcons are looking for their first win over West Florida in Pensacola in its 21st all-time meeting.
  • Montevallo defeated the Argos twice during the 2007 postseason, including a 2-1 win in the GSC Tournament at Brosnaham Park and a 2-0 win in the South Region Tournament. 
  • The teams met in the championship match of the 2018 Gulf South Conference Tournament, with West Florida emerging, 1-0. The two teams also met in the 2008 GSC Final with UWF winning 3-0.
  • West Florida has won the last 10 matches dating back to 2008, out-scoring the Falcons, 27-1. The lone goal for UM was in a 7-1 loss in 2010.
Streaks: Montevallo - which shut out Christian Brothers, 2-0, in the GSC Tournament quarterfinals - has won its last three straight matches and the Falcons are 8-1 in their last nine and 9-1-1 in their last 11 outings. West Florida, which won 3-1 at third-seeded West Alabama in the quarterfinals, has won four of its last five with the lone loss being a 2-0 setback at the hands of GSC regular-season champion Mississippi College. 
NEWS AND NOTES
  • The winner of the Montevallo-West Florida match will face either No. 1 Mississippi College (15-1) or No. 4 Lee (15-4) in the GSC Tournament championship match Sunday at 3 p.m.
  • Montevallo is 7-2-1 away from home this season (5-2-0 away, 2-0-1 neutral sites) while the Argos are 7-1 in Pensacola in 2019. West Florida's home loss came to Mississippi College on Nov. 9.
  • The Falcons were rated fifth in the South Region in the most recent NCAA Regional Rankings. Other GSC teams in the rankings included Mississippi College (first), Lee (second), West Alabama (sixth) and West Florida (seventh).
  • Montevallo has outscored its opponents, 45-16, so far this season. The Falcons are averaging 2.37 goals (third in the GSC) and allowing just 0.84 goals per match (fourth).
  • West Florida has outscored its opponents, 46-12, thus far. The Argos average 2.70 goals per match (second) and allow only 0.71 goals per game (third).

  • Romee Contreras leads the Falcons in goals (seven), assists (10) and points (24) on 44 shots, including 20 shots on goal. She is second in the GSC in assists and also ranks in the top 10 in points and goals.
  • Samara Lino also has six goals and three assists for 15 points for UM on 42 shots, 22 of which were on goal.
  • Medhali Hernandez is tops on the team in shots (53) and she. Kira Bochard (five goals, one assist) and Espy Sanchez (four goals, one assist) have two game-winning goals apiece for the Falcons.
  • Hannah Waki has played the most minutes (1,647) among the field players for the Falcons.
  • Annie Mason and Judith Perez-Bayon have split time in goal, with Mason making 47 saves and allowing seven goals in 1,154:59 of work and Perez-Bayon making nine saves and yielding nine goals in 613:36 in net. Mason's .870 save percentage and 0.55 goals against average both lead the conference.
  • Fourteen different players have scored for Montevallo this season, with 11 of those finding the back of the net multiple times. In all, 18 different Montevallo players have at least one point in 2019. 
     
WEST FLORIDA
  • Freshman Anita Danielsdottir leads the Argos in goals (nine), assists (nine), points (27), shots (82), and shots on goal (37). She leads the GSC in shots, is second in shots on goal, third in assists and fourth in points. 
  • Other offensive threats for the Argos include Peyton Peffers (six goals, eight assists, 20 points on 46 shots, 23 shots on goal), Annie Rolf (six goals, five assists, 17 points, 55 shots, 31 shots on goal) and Kaila Armstrong (five goals, 11 points, 35 shots, 17 shots on goal).
  • Esthefanny Barreras is West Florida's main goalie, allowing just 12 goals and making 27 saves in 1,379:25 of work. Her 0.78 goals against average is good for fourth in the GSC.
