MONTEVALLO, Ala. - Coming off a men's second place finish and third-place women's finish at the
19th annual
Sewanee Invitational on Oct. 26, University of Montevallo will host Birmingham-Southern College in its first-ever home meet Friday, Nov. 8 at 3 p.m.
MEN'S OUTLOOK
Fourteen freshmen swimmers make up this year's inaugural Montevallo men's swim roster.
Will Mahone of Lilburn, Georgia and
Thom Naccarato of Wimberley, Texas will look to lead Montevallo in the backstroke, butterfly and relays this winter with some of the fastest 100 back and 100 fly times on the team. Mahone and Naccarato will also participate in the 50 free, with Naccarato currently leading the way in the event.
Brandon Bell of Loganville, Georgia is another Falcon who will compete in the backstroke and as a sprinter.
Joshua Sauer of Pearland, Texas will be the Falcons' primary distance swimmer, competing in the mile at Sewanee to open the season and will swim the 1,000 in Friday's meet.
Samuel Rix is a sprinter who will compete as a butterfly swimmer for Montevallo in the 100 and 200 along with
Anthony Carey and
Gabe Moon-Puente, Mahone and Naccarato.
Jered Poland and
Trent Mobley will specialize in the breast stroke and compete some in individual medleys (IM).
Connor Daigle, the first Falcon to win a race in UM's history, is proving to be an all-around swimmer for UM. Coming off lifetime bests at Sewanee, Daigle will compete in various races for the Falcons, including IM, breast and the 500 in some cases.
Parker Bell is a mid-distance sprinter for UM, while the short sprints will be led by Mahone,
Brandon Bell, Moon-Puente and
Andrew Bryant.
Tyler Bailey,

Kyle Smithers are also swimmers looking to compete this winter for the Falcons.
WOMEN'S OUTLOOK
Molly Hansen of Thibodaux, Louisiana led Montevallo in its program-opening meet Oct. 26 and became the first UM women's swimmer to win a collegiate race. Coach
Aaron Mahaney says she's proven she can compete at any stroke, but will see time at breaststroke, IM and butterfly the most.
Of the 16 swimmers, only two are not freshmen. Juniors
Hailey Vance and

Anisa Nelson is the Falcons' primary distance swimmer, joined by Lane,
Gemma Knauf and
Amanda Farmer at times. Knauf also competes in the butterfly, while Farmer is an IM swimmer and breastroker.
Hailey Vance will compete in the 100 and 200 back, along with
Grace Sturgill, who is also a 100 butterfly swimmer and competes in freestyle sprints and relays. Other sprinters include
Khaliyah Berry and
Shayla Whaley.
Lexie Cardwell, a member of Air Force ROTC, is the Falcons' top 50 free swimmer and will also compete in the 100 free.
