The Falcons' lone win in the series came in a neutral-site meeting on November 22 1997, in which Montevallo edged the Lady Statesmen 90-78. Delta State has won 11 games in a row in the series, including a 65-45 win over the Falcons in the first meeting this season, back in December.

• West Alabama owns the tie breaker over the Falcons after beating Montevallo twice the season.
• In order to make the conference tournament, Montevallo must win over Delta State and will need a loss from West Alabama. The Tigers take on Mississippi College on the road Thursday night.
• Delta State enters this matchup fighting for a chance to host a GSC tournament quarterfinal game as the No. 4 seed. Delta State needs a win in order to ensure the No. 4 spot.
• The Falcons enter this game after falling at home to the University of West Florida, 62-53, a game in which the Falcons led for 23 minutes.
• Shyan Flack enters the game after being announced as the GSC Freshman of the Week for the second time this season. Flack averaged 13 points and 5.5 rebounds in last week's games. The Somerville, Alabama native totaled 18 points and nine rebounds in a win over UAH last Thursday.
