Falcons defeat Barton 14-12 in comeback victory

Box Score WILSON, N.C. – The University of Montevallo men's lacrosse team defeated host Barton College 14-12 in a come-from-behind victory March 1.
Sophomore Thomas Vaesen scored a team-high four goals and recorded one assist as he compiled a team-best five points.
Freshman Connor Frederick contributed three goals and two assists as he registered five points for the Falcons, who improved to 2-4 overall on the season. Freshman Jackson Neufeld also scored three goals in the victory.
Sophomore Kordell Primus scored two goals and registered two assists, while sophomore Ryan Shea compiled one goal and one assist.
Sophomore Alex Dozzi also scored a goal in the win.
Freshman Luke Stephens registered a team-high nine ground balls, while freshman Jaeden Henson added five ground balls and a team-high two caused turnovers.
Sophomore Kyle Little finished with 13 saves and a .520 save percentage in the victory.

2nd (8:42) | Zachary Hodge scored a goal to give the Bulldogs a 5-3 lead early in the second quarter.
2nd (7:30) | Vaesen scored an unassisted goal to tie the game at 5-5 in the next minute.
2nd (4:38) | Hodge scored the final goal in the first half to give the Bulldogs a 6-5 lead heading into the break at halftime.
3rd (7:42) | Jake Copio scored a goal off an assist from Hunter Huxoll to push the Barton lead to 8-5 midway through the third quarter.
3rd (5:46) | Frederick helped trim the deficit to 8-7 after scoring the Falcons' second goal in a three-minute span.
3rd (1:15) | Freshman Jackson Neufeld scored a goal off an assist from Frederick to again trim the Bulldogs' lead to just one goal, 9-8.
4th (12:00) | Chaney scored a goal off an assist from Hodge to push the Bulldogs' lead to 11-8.
4th (10:46) | Sophomore Kordell Primus scored a goal off an assist from Frederick, which started a 6-0 scoring run by the Falcons in the fourth quarter.
4th (6:37) | Neufeld scored an unassisted goal to tie the game at 11-11 midway through the fourth quarter.
4th (6:26) | Primus scored another goal just 11 seconds later to give the Falcons the lead for good in the contest.
4th (5:33) | Neufeld scored a goal off an assist from Primus to push the Falcons' lead to 14-11.

GAME NOTES
  • The Falcons outscored Barton 6-3 in the fourth quarter in the come-from-behind victory.
  • Montevallo outshot the Bulldogs 47-36, including a 31-25 edge in shots on goal.
  • The Falcons finished with a 19-11 advantage in face offs won in the contest.
  • Montevallo recorded 44 ground balls compared to 34 ground balls by the Bulldogs.
  • Montevallo finished 2-of-6 in man-up opportunities, while Barton scored in just 1-of-5 in man-up situations.
