Falcons swept by Georgia Gwinnett in doubleheader

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The University of Montevallo men's tennis team fell to undefeated host Georgia Gwinnett College 7-0 and 4-0 in a doubleheader March 17.

Sophomores Georg Trompler and Tanguy David managed to win the No. 2 doubles' match against Gregor Hutterer and Valentino Caratini of Georgia Gwinnett 6-3 in the opening match of the doubleheader, but the hosts claimed the other two doubles' matches to secure the doubles' point.

Trompler pushed Herrera Duran of Georgia Gwinnett into a tiebreaking set in a 6-4, 6-7 (4-10) setback in the No. 1 singles' match.
In the second match of the doubleheader, sophomore Petter Dahlin pushed Duran into third set after splitting the first two sets 6-7, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles' match that was called early when Georgia Gwinnett clinched.

David also pushed Rafael Coutinho of Georgia Gwinnett into the third set after splitting the first two sets 6-3, 3-6 in the No. 3 singles' match.

The Falcons will return to action Wednesday, March 20 with a non-conference match against Southern Arkansas University at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Alabama.
