VILLA RICCA, Ga. – The Falcon's men's golf team finished the first 36 holes of the Matt Dyas Invitational in 6
th place in the event. The squad shot team scores of 305 and 299 for the first two rounds. UM currently sit six shots out of the top five and eight shots out of the top three.
Senior
Paul Murphy led the way for the Falcons on day one. Murphy carded two solid rounds of 74-72 on day one of the event placing him in a tie for 5
th place with a total of 146.
Junior
Noah Dennis of Trussville, Alabama was second on the day for the men's program. Dennis fired rounds of 74-77 for a two-round total of 151 placing him in a tie for 19
th.
Freshman Greg Jones carded a solid second round 74 after his first round 78. Jones, a native of Mobile, Alabama carded a two-round total of 152 placing him in T23.
Senior
Brett Batchelor was next on the day for the Falcons. Batchelor carded a first round 79 before his second round 76. His two-round total of 155 currently places him in 27
th place.
Brady Carman of Douglasville, Georgia rounded out the top five for the Falcons on day one of the event. Carman carded rounds 86-77 for a two-round total of 163 and is currently sitting in 31
st place.
TOURNAMENT NOTES
The Falcons are one of four Gulf South Conference teams in the Matt Dyas invitational this week.
Paul Murphy led the Falcons with the most birdies on day one tallying eight total in the first two rounds.
Greg Jones rolled in a 45 foot eagle putt on #1 (his 16th hole of the 2nd round) for the Falcons only eagle on day one and his first one of his collegiate career.
