CAMDEN, SC. – The University of Montevallo men's golf team has wrapped up their first event of the season. The team finished the tournament in 6
th place in Camden, South Carolina with a third round score of (+19) 299. The Falcons ended the week with a total of (+40) 888.
Senior
Paul Murphy started the season on a high note with a top five finish. Murphy ended the event tied for 5
th with scores of 68-69-76 for a three day total of (+3) 213. Murphy led all Falcons in the field for the event.
Freshman
Landon Wockenfuss was second on the week for the program. The Alabaster, Alabama native carded a third round (+9) 79 after rounds of 70-74 on the first day of the event. His three day total of (+13) 223 gave him a T29 finish.
Noah Dennis carded a strong final round (+2) 72 to cap off his week. Dennis fired rounds of 79-74-72 for a three round total of (+15) 225 and a T36 finish.
Freshman Greg Jones finished off the week nicely with a final found score of (+2) 72. Jones, a native of Mobile, Alabama, had rounds of 81-73 on the first day before moving up his way up the leaderboard in the third and final round. The final round 72 helped Jones to a T42 finish with a three day tally of (+16) 226.
Harrison Hughston was the final golfer in the field this week for the Falcons. Hughston carded rounds of 75-73-79 for a three day total score of (+17) 227 and a T45 finish.
TOURNAMENT NOTES
This was the first event of the season for the Montevallo men's golf program.
The Falcons will be back in action again in two weeks in Carrolton, Georgia at the Matt Dyas Invitational on October 19
th-20
th.
