Lindsay Vanover announces resignation as softball head coach

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Softball coach Lindsay Vanover has announced her resignation from her position as head coach to pursue other opportunities.  The University of Montevallo Department of Athletics extends its gratitude for the contributions Vanover has made to this program and university.

"I would like to thank Coach Vanover for the level of dedication that she has poured into this team," remarked Montevallo Director of Athletics Mark Richard.  "She has been a great leader and a strong foundation to what has become a well-respected softball program, we wish her the best of luck."

Lindsay Vanover will go down in Montevallo history as the first ever softball coach, and has been the catalyst for the growth of the program during her eight year tenure.  During her time, Vanover has guided her teams to two Peach Belt Conference Tournament appearances and one Gulf South Conference Tournament appearance.

She has coached two NCAA Division II All-American selections, three NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region selections, three NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region selections, with multiple All-Peach Belt Conference and All-Gulf South Conference selections. Vanover also had sixteen Peach Belt Conference All-Academic Team selections and one Gulf South Conference All-Academic Team selection.

The UM Athletic Department will be conducting a nationwide search to name a new head coach for the program.
