Falcons Finish Third at Jenison Cup in Florida

ST. AUGUSTINE, FLA - The Montevallo men's golf team claimed third place at the Jay Jenison Cup this week. The Falcons shot an 18-under, 846 over three rounds at Slammer and Squires Golf Course. UM was six strokes behind second place and host Flagler College and nine back of the event winner Barry University. Barry finished at 27-under (837), while Flager wrapped up at 24-under (840).

Individually, freshman Eric Boutwell led the way for the Falcons, finishing 4th at 10-under-par (69-70-67-206). Boutwell was 9th coming into the third round and shot a final round 67 to roll into the top five.  Greg Jones finished in a five-way tie for 9th place after a tough final round. He entered the day tied for 5th after shooting  68 and 69 in the first two rounds, had a 74 in the final round to finish at 5-under-par (211)  Velenino Fantozzi was also in a log-jam at the end of the day, tying for 19th at 2-under-par (73-69-72-214). Noah Dennis finished strong after a shaky first two rounds (76 and 73) to finish at 4-over-par. He shot 71 in the final round and finished at 220. Bryant Raynowska rounded out the scoring for the Falcons finishing tied for 46th at 5-over-par (72-76-73-221).

Next up: The Falcons will be back on the course on Oct. 4-5 at the Super Region Preview at Kinderlou Forest Country Club in Valdosta, Ga.
