SANDESTIN, Fla. – The University of Montevallo women's golf team finished in fourth place at the Golfweek D2 Fall Invitational, Tuesday, at the Raven Golf Club in Sandestin, Fla.
Montevallo was one of 10 NCAA Division-II programs competing this week and one of two from the Gulf South Conference.
The Falcons sat in third place after firing a 14-over 298 in both the first and second rounds. Entering the final round, Montevallo was tied with West Florida with a 596 two-round total and shot 22-over in the final round to fall behind the Argonauts and take fourth place.
Sophomore
Madison Rincon led Montevallo, for the second consecutive event, with a tied-9
th finish after shooting a plus-7 220 in the three-round event. The sophomore from Palm Desert, Calif., entered the final round in first place after carding a two-under 69 in the second round. She fell eight spots with a final round 80.
Paulina Bermejo, a sophomore from Aguascalientes, Mexico, posted the second highest finish for the Falcons and placed 12
th overall with a 10-over 223 in the event.
Sophomore
Caterina Oliveri carded 77's in all three rounds to shoot a plus-18 231, good enough to tie for 22
nd place.
Right behind Oliveri, tied for 24
th, was Montevallo freshman
Kaylee Ehret. She competed as an individual in the tournament and fired a 19-over 232 across the week. Ehret was the highest-placing individual in the field. She improved each day, carding scores of 79, 77, and 76.
Freshman Densie Paulsson finished tied for 29
th at the invitational, shooting a 21-over 234. She climbed up five spots, Tuesday, with a final round 75.
Freshman Fabiola Decespedes rounded out the Falcons lineup and turned in a 24-over 237, three-round score.
