NYLA GRACE COLLIER | 5'9" | G | Hazel Green HS | Hazel Green, Ala.
"I knew Nyla Grace was a perfect fit the first time we watched her play, but when she and her mother came to visit, we knew for certain," said Van Atta. "Her passion to win and be a team leader was so evident. She plays for perennial powerhouse Hazel Green HS, AL and is coached by Future ASHAA Hall of Fame Coaching Legend Tim Miller. Hazel Green has won the last five 6A state Championships. She a multi-skilled player that can attack the rim, take the jump shot or make the extra pass to her team mate for a basket. Her toughness and physical play are a strong point to her game. She is so well rounded on and off the court. Her impact at UM will be constant throughout her career. She is part of an extremely talented 2023 recruiting class whose impact should be felt for years to come."
Collier has been a varsity starter at Hazel Green HS since her eighth-grade season in 2019. The Montevallo signee earned All-Area honors for four consecutive seasons (2019-22) with an All-Regional Tournament Team selection and an All-State Tournament Team nod during the 2022 season. She surpassed 1,000 career-points in Hazel Green High's state semifinal game in March of 2022. Collier not only shined on the court but in the classroom with an All-Area Academic Team nod in 2022.
"What outstanding young student athlete," said Collier's high school head coach Tim Miller. "She is a great person on and off the court, an excellent student and great teammate. She's a tough, physical player and a good shooter."
The 5'9" guard will join Van Atta's squad and former teammate
