MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo women's basketball head coach Gary Van Atta has announced the signing of Ramie Reid, a 6'1" forward from Hayden High School in Hayden, Ala.

"Ramie is another perfect fit for the University of Montevallo basketball program," said Van Atta. "She was chosen as one of the Top 100 players in Alabama her junior year for a reason. She's versatile player who can play inside and out. She can score at all three levels (inside, midrange and 3-pt. range). Her size (6'1') and versatility makes her a matchup problem for most opponents. She's an excellent athlete who can run and jump. She's a good shot blocker and rebounder. She was a two-sport athlete at AHSAA 5A Hayden HS in Alabama. She currently owns the AHSAA Volleyball Record for kills in a career at 1681. She's an excellent student athlete who excels in the classroom as well as in the community. We welcome Ramie, as a part of this 2023 recruiting class, to the University of Montevallo where... 'Life is better together on the Bricks!'"
 
The future Falcon has amassed a plethora of honors during her high school career. Reid has been named Area 12 MVP twice, with a pair of All-County tournament awards, an All-Area tournament award during her tenth-grade season, and an All-County seasonal award. The Hayden, Ala. native was named on the Terry Drake Award Watch List a season ago with a Second Team All-State nod and a Top-100 Players in Alabama honor. She is a member of the 1,000-point club at Hayden HS while also holding the AHSAA volleyball record for kills with 1,681. Reid's recognition extends to the classroom as she holds a 4.0 GPA as a member of the Key Club and the Beta Club. She is also her class representative and an ambassador for Hayden HS where she is also a part of the Leo Club.
 
Reid will join the Falcons in the fall of 2023.
