MONTEVALLO, Ala. --- The Montevallo men's lacrosse team suffered a tough 14-13 loss to Alabama Huntsville on Saturday afternoon at the UM Lacrosse Complex. The Falcons fell to 5-7 and 0-2 in the Gulf South Conference, while UAH improved to 6-5 and 2-0 in the GSC.
NEXT UP: The Falcons travel to Rome, Georgia to take on Shorter University on Saturday, April 16th at 2 p.m. ET.
Falcons Leaders
Scott Friant led UM with three goals and two assists (5 points), while
Jackson Klewchuk,
Connor Frederick and
Thomas Vaesen had two goals apiece.
Trevayne Hunter added a pair of assists, and
Gerry York and
Anthony Pecoraro east tallied one assists.Â

Jacob Bodino finished the game with 12 saves.
Key Plays
1st period
The Falcons jumped out to a quick lead with three goals less that a minute apart.
Scott Friant scored the first goal with 11:20 left in the quarter. Seven seconds later, Friant struck again to make it 2-0. Then, with 10:35 left,
Connor Frederick found the back of the net to give the Falcons a three goal advantage. UAH scored a pair of goals to trim the lead to 3-2,
Nicholas Cavellier scored with 7:28 left to make it 4-2, Falcons. But, the Chargers scored twice to even the game at 4-4 heading into the second period.
2nd period
UAH took the lead for the first time on a goal by Reid Vender with 11:17 left in the second period. The Falcons answered with four straight goals by
Jackson Klewchuk,
Thomas Vaesen,
Jackson Neufeld and
Gerry York to open up an 8-5 gap. Both teams posted goals before halftime to make the score 9-6 at intermission.
3rd period
Klewchuk scored his second goal of the game with 11:34 left to give the Falcons a 10-6 lead. UAH responded with four consecutive goals to tie the game at 10-apiece with 3:39 left. Friant gave the Falcons back the lead with a goal with 2:47 left, but the Chargers tied the score again just nine seconds later, leaving the score tied at 11 going into the final period.

4th period
UAH scored a pair of goals to take a 13-11 lead. Vaesen scored a goal with 8:08 left to cut the deficit to 13-12, but Reid Vender answered with what would wind up being the winning goal for UAH with 5:29 left. The Falcons did have a chance late after Frederick scored with 40 seconds remaining, but time ran out for the home team.
