MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo men's lacrosse junior midfielder
Jackson Klewchuk is participating with Team Canada in the 2022 World Junior Lacrosse Championships in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The WJLC began on Aug. 9 and will conclude on August 14.
"It's definitely an honor to play for my country, especially in my hometown," said Klewchuk. "Having my friends and family come watch is very special as they can come to support through the tournament. Being at [Montevallo] definitely helped me get to this point as playing with high caliber players helps me become a better player myself. Playing in this tournament for Canada will definitely be a learning experience and will help me towards my play in Montevallo. I'm excited to get started through the week and we have our eyes on gold."
Klewchuck and team Canada opened the WJLC with a 17-12 win over team USA on Tuesday, August 9. The Manitoba native scored two goals and recorded three assists in the contest. Canada will return to action at 8 p.m. CST against Australia on Friday, August 12.
