DESTIN, Fla. – The University of Montevallo women's golf team posted a 4th-place finish at the GolfWeek Division II Challenge, hosted by GolfWeek Magazine in Destin, Florida.
 
In an 11-team field, the Falcons compiled a three-round total of 39-over to place fourth.
 
UM opened the event with a 302 in the first round, moved ahead with a 298 in round two and finished with the best round of the week, a seven-over 291.
 
Sophomore Denise Paulsson paced the Falcons with a sixth-place finish overall as she shot five-over. The Stockholm, Sweden native shot a three-over in the first round but bounced back with back-to-back 72's in rounds two and three.
 
Junior Madison Rincon was the next Falcons behind Paulsson as she played tied-16 after carding a two-under 69 on the final day.
 
The Falcons were one of three Gulf South Conference teams in the event. UM placed ahead of West Georgia (5^th), and Mississippi College (10^th).

Individual Highlights 

• Denise Paulsson led the Falcons with a sixth-place finish in a 59-team field and was the highest finishing Gulf South Conference participant in the field.
• Paulsson shot rounds of 74, 72 and 72.
• Madison Rincon carded a two-under 69 on the final day to moved into a tie for 16^th.

Team Highlights 

• Montevallo finished fourth out of 11 teams in the event.
• The Falcons finished ahead of the other two GSC teams in the event. West Georgia placed sixth and Mississippi College finished 10^th.
