MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo women's basketball's Michaella Edwards and men's baseball's Ben Teel have been named Montevallo Players of the Week for the week of Feb. 6
Michaella Edwards (Women's Basketball)
Senior Guard Michaella Edwards put on a show in the Falcon's record setting night against Shorter University. At Trust Mark Arena Edwards led the team in scoring with a career high 26 points and added six rebounds in only 21 minutes. She shot an astounding 88% (7-8) from the floor, and 86% (6-7) from three point territory, which is the second highest three-point percentage in Falcon history. Edwards also shot 100% from the freethrow line, shooting 6-6. Her sharp shooting guided the Falcons to a single game, three-point shot record, with 16 total threes and their highest scoring game since December 2010.
Ben Teel (Men's Baseball)
Fifth year starter Ben Teel's bat starts off hot at Minute Maid Park. This weekend, the Falcon's played three games in Houston against Flagler, Central Missouri, and Arkansas Tech. Teel started the season off right by hitting a walk off single in their first game against Flagler. He added four more hits as well as four RBIs including a huge three run homerun against Arkansas Tech. His batting average for the weekend was .455 on 11 at bats, and had an on base percentage of .600. He scored three total runs as the Falcons won all three games at the Houston Winter Invitational.
