BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference has named Montevallo righthander Taylor Lloyd GSC Pitcher of the Week in the final weekly awards of the 2023 season.
 
Lloyd earned a pair of wins on the week in 9.1 innings thrown with just one earned run on nine hits allowed with six strikeouts and just two walks in Montevallo's series sweep over West Georgia on the final weekend of the regular season.
 
The Falcons' freshman pitcher threw a shutout 5.1 in Montevallo's 9-1 game one victory. As she faced 20 batters, the Soddy Daisy, Tenn. native gave up just three hits with four strikeouts to just one walk in 68 pitches thrown. In a 15-13 8-inning win in game three, Lloyd threw the final 4.0 innings with a pair of strikeouts and just one earned run on six hits and one walk in 20 batters faced.
 
Lloyd and the rest of the Falcons' softball squad will be back in action on Wednesday, May 3 at 10 a.m. to take on third-seeded West Alabama in the first round of the GSC Championship.
