MONTEVALLO, AL. – The University of Montevallo men's golf team finished second at the Full Moon Invitational, Tuesday.
The men's team closed out the opening tournament of the year with a round of five-under at Timberline Golf Course in Calera, Alabama to finish in second.
With an even-par round one, the squad tallied a combined score of five-under to remain in second behind tournament-winner, Union. The Bulldogs carded an eight-under round on Monday and held on with a combined four-under on Tuesday.
Junior
Eric Boutwell led the Falcons to the second-place finish as he finished tied for second at five-under. Boutwell entered the final round at two-under in a tie for fourth and shot a 68 to finish in a tie for second. The Russellville, Alabama native had 10 pars, four birdies, and an eagle on the final day.
Along with Boutwell,
Valentino Fantozzi helped the Falcons secure second with a second-round score of 68.
Harrison Hughston finished at even par for the tournament and
Landon Wockenfuss was the only other Falcon under par at one-under.
Cooper Markham led the Montevallo B team with a two-round total of three-over to finish in a tie for 12
th.

Individual Highlights RESULTS
- Four Falcons finished in the top-10 as Eric Boutwell led the way at five-under for a tied-second finish.
- Valentino Fantozzi posted a three-under 68 to plus-one overall and into a tie for ninth.
- Landon Wockenfuss was the only other Falcon to finish under par as he carded a one-under for the two-round event, good enough for a tied fourth.
- Harrison Hughston shot rounds of even par to finish in a tie for seventh.
- Cooper Markham led the Montevallo B squad as he finished tied for 12th at three-over.
- Wockenfuss led the field with 10 birdies on the week.
- Boutwell and Hughston were two of just eight players in the 43-player field to not card a double-bogey or worse.
- Fantozzi, Boutwell and Brock McNeeley, who played as an individual, carded the most pars on the week for UM with 22 each.
Team Highlights RESULTS
- Montevallo's A team finished the tournament at five-under par for a second-place finish.
- Union totaled a team score of 12-under to win the event.
- The Falcons posted four players in the top-10 of the final standings.
- Montevallo's A team combined for 35 birdies and 97 pars.
- Montevallo was one of four Gulf South Conference Schools competing in the event and finished ahead of Shorter (+1) and Christian Brothers (+23).
