NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Montevallo men's track and field team has been ranked fourth in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South Region poll.
In the first ranking of the USTFCCCA this season, Montevallo comes in ranked fourth. UM is the fourth-highest ranked Gulf South Conference team behind Lee, Mississippi College and Alabama Huntsville. The Falcons ranking is higher than three other GSC schools including Christian Brothers, Shorter and West Georgia.
In one scored meet so far this season, UM took second-place at the Emory Crossplex Showdown with 78 points. At that meet, the Falcons came away with three, first-place finishes from
Caleb Kariuki in the triple jump,
Bill Archer in the mile and
Alex Malone in the long jump.
The Falcons will be back in action at the Gulf South Conference Indoor Championship in Birmingham, Ala. on Feb. 15 and Feb. 16.
