MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo Athletics has named Track & Field's Zak Ferguson and Swimming's Alexandria Morgan as the Montevallo Players of the Week presented by Jack's for the week of January 12. 
 
Zak Ferguson (Track & Field)
Freshman distance runner Zak Ferguson delivered a standout performance to open the indoor season, highlighting the Falcons' strong showing at the UAB Vulcan Invite with a dominant victory in the men's 3000 meters.
 
Ferguson captured first place in the event with a time of 8:34.45, finishing an impressive 30 seconds ahead of the next closest competitor. His performance currently ranks 33rd nationally among Division II competitors, marking one of the top times in the country early in the indoor season.
 
The freshman's commanding win also came against strong competition, as he finished ahead of two NCAA Division I runners, showcasing his poise and competitiveness in his first collegiate indoor meet. Ferguson's effort helped set the tone for Montevallo's season-opening meet and underscored his potential as a key contributor for the Falcons moving forward.
 
Alexandria Morgan (Swimming)
Junior swimmer Alexandria Morgan led the Falcons in the pool during Montevallo's dual meet against Delta State, turning in multiple first-place finishes and contributing across individual and relay events.
 
Morgan claimed victories in both the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.86 and the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall first in 5:18.71. She showcased her versatility and endurance by controlling each race from start to finish.
 
In addition to her individual success, Morgan was a member of Montevallo's first-place 200-yard medley relay team, joining Petra Cajkas, Hanna Persson, and Keara McGee to post a winning time of 1:52.86. Her performances played a key role in the Falcons' strong showing on the day and highlighted her leadership early in the season.
