Box Score TIGERVILLE, S.C. – Montevallo men's lacrosse earned a dominant 22-9 win over North Greenville in Saturday's road matchup in the Palmetto State.
North Greenville opened the game with a trio of unanswered goals inside the first four minutes of the game before Montevallo's
John Irving ended the run with his second goal of the season at the 9:49 mark. Just over a minute later,
Trevayne Hunter lost his defender and fired for Montevallo's second goal of the afternoon. With 7:03 on the clock, senior
Zach Laberge tied the game at three apiece before a man-up goal from the senior midfielder gave the Falcons the first lead of the day at 4-3.
Morgan Trites got in on the high-scoring first quarter for the fifth unanswered goal just before
Nick Givens' fifth goal of the season gave Montevallo a 6-3 lead. After Trites ran through his defender for the Falcons' eighth-consecutive goal, NGU ended the Falcons run with less than a minute to play. In the closing seconds of the first,
Alex Egorshin tallied his second save of the day to head to the second with an 8-4 Montevallo lead.
The two attacks slowed in the second quarter as both defenses began to settle in. The Crusaders found the first goal of the second quarter with 12:32 to play in the half to cut Montevallo's lead down to three. With the long stick, sophomore
James Godfrey found his second goal of 2024 just before Trites completed a first-half hat-trick to give the Falcons a 10-5 lead with 10:26 to play. With 5:56 on the clock, Egorshin tallied is fourth save of the first half.
William Angus found a cutting
Jack Morris with 4:04 on the clock before Angus scored his first of the day to give the Falcons a 12-5 advantage. NGU found the final goal of the first half before three-straight saves from Egorshin sent the game to the second half with a 12-6 Montevallo lead.
Montevallo struck early and often in the third quarter with Hunter scoring inside the first 90 seconds of the third off a pass from
Matthew Boas. On the ensuing faceoff,
Jackson Klewchuk found his first goal of the day before adding a second goal just under a minute later to give Montevallo a 15-6 lead after the first three minutes of the quarter. With 8:25 on the clock, NGU recorded its first goal of the half with a bouncing shot that found its way past Egorshin. The Crusaders took advantage of a Montevallo penalty to cut the Falcons' lead down to 15-8. Trites helped to keep the Crusaders at bay with a goal from long-range at the 2:31 mark of the third quarter. Off the following UM faceoff win, Hunter beat the keeper to give Montevallo a 17-8 lead with 2:13 to go. Klewchuk found his third goal of the quarter with an unassisted effort at with less than a minute to play. Sparked by another Egorshin save,
Jacob Obee gave Montevallo a 19-8 lead with 23 seconds left with a bouncing shot in transition. For the second time of the day, Egroshin ended the quarter with a save to send the game to the fourth with a 19-8 Montevallo lead.
A wrap-around shot from Laberge opened the fourth-quarter scoring after it rebounded off the keeper and into the net. North Greenville found the mark with just under 13 minutes to play to make the score 20-9 before the NGU keeper made a miraculous save at the 10:34 mark. Egorshin tallied his 15th save of the day at the 9:46 mark that sparked a Montevallo runout that led to the second long-stick goal of the day, this time from
Luke Hennebaul. Montevallo's
Brett Bilodeau gave the Falcons a 22-9 lead at the 6:34 mark with
Will Sommer tallying his first assist of the day. The Falcons kept NGU off the board for the final six minutes of the game to take a 22-9 win over the road.

1ST | Montevallo dominated the first quarter after falling behind 3-0 in the early going. With a 10-6 advantage in shots on goal, Montevallo scored eight unanswered goals while going 8-5 in faceoffs.
2ND | Montevallo's
Alex Egorshin added six saves in the second quarter as both defenses began to settle in. The Falcons added four goals in the second quarter on 11 shots and eight shots on goal while NGU began to take the faceoff battle with a 6-1 advantage in the second.
3RD | The Falcons controlled the third quarter with a 7-2 advantage in goals to start the second half. Egorshin added another six saves to his line while the Falcons' defense held NGU scoreless on a pair of man-up opportunities.
4TH | Montevallo slowed its attack in the final quarter with just three goals in the final 15 minutes compared to one from NGU. The Falcons took each of the faceoffs in the final quarter en route to a 22-9 win.
