Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Montevallo men's lacrosse fell to 6-4 on the season after falling to Maryville, 14-8, on the road.
Montevallo jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a goal from
James Godfrey before
Matthew Boas took advantage of a man-up chance in the first three minutes of the game. Just over four minutes later, Maryville cut the lead in half before tying the game at 2-2 with 6:02 to play in the first. The Saints added two more unanswered goals before Godfrey ended a 4-0 run from Maryville at the 1:31 mark. With less than a minute to play, a save from sophomore goalkeeper
Alex Egorshin kept the Falcons within striking distance heading to the second.
With the Falcons trailing 4-3 at the start of the second, Montevallo held the Saints off the board for the first six minutes of the quarter before Maryville extended its lead with 9:14 on the clock. The Saints added a second goal just a minute later to take a 6-3 lead over Montevallo. Maryville added a third and final goal of the quarter to head to the half with a 7-3 lead after keeping the Falcons off the board for the entire quarter.
The Saints opened the second half with a goal inside the first two minutes of the third to leave the Falcons trailing 8-3. Egorshin kept the Saints off the board with back-to-back saves before Maryville scored a pair of goals in 40 seconds to take a seven-goal advantage with 7:07 left. Sophomore
Morgan Trites ended an extended scoring drought for the Falcons with 5:44 on the clock to cut into the Saints lead. With 2:21 on the clock, Maryville added an 11
th goal just before
Zach Laberge scored his first of the day to make the score 11-5.
Jack Morris scored with just 35 seconds on the clock to answer a Maryville goal inside the final two minutes to send the game to the fourth with a 12-6 Saint lead.
Laberge found the back of the net for the second time to opening the fourth quarter and cut the lead down to five. Maryville answered with a goal of its own at the 11:51 mark to keep the Falcons at bay before added its final goal of the day with 10:13 on the clock. Egorshin tallied four saves over the next seven minutes before freshman attacker
Anthony Coviello added his first goal of the day with 3:21 left. The Falcons couldn't make up the difference in the closing stages and fell 14-8 on the road.

2nd | Montevallo was shutout in the second quarter while Maryville added a trio of goals to take a four-goal lead into the half. The Falcons struggled to find a rhythm offensively with just six shots in the quarter while committing seven turnovers in the second.
3rd | The Falcons were outshot 13-4 in the third quarter with the Saints taking a 5-3 advantage in scoring in the third. Egorshin added three more saves to his line while the Falcons committed seven more turnovers in the third.
4th | Montevallo was outshot 16-5 in the final 15 minutes but kept the score even at 2-2 in the fourth. Egorshin continued a strong day in net with five more saves in the final stanza.
GAME NOTES
- For just the third time this season, Montevallo was held to single-digit goals with an 0-3 mark in such games.
- The Falcons struggled to handle the ball with 30 turnovers on the day with 11 of those unforced.
- Egorshin finished the day with 13 saves on 51 shots faced for a .481 save percentage.
