CLEVELAND, Miss. – The University of Montevallo men's golf team placed fourth at the Derrall Foreman Invitational, hosted by Delta State, Tuesday.
 
In a tournament that was cut one round short due to weather, the Falcons posted a round one score of four-over on Mar. 4 and bounced back in round two on Mar. 5 with a score of three-under.
 
Montevallo was paced by Cooper Markham who moved up nine spots in round two to finish in a tie for seventh at two-under.
 
Harrison Hughston was the biggest mover for the Falcons in round two. The graduate student carded a round of four-under in round two to move up 17 spots in the final standings for tied 11^th.
 
Eric Boutwell joined Hugston at tied 11^th with a score of one under for the two-round event to round out a trio of Falcons in the top 11.
 
After the first round on Monday, the Falcons sat in fourth place at four-over. In round two the squad combined for a score of three-under to remain in fourth in the final standings.

Individual Highlights 

• Cooper Markham led the Falcons with scores of 72 and 70 in the event. He climbed nine spots in the leaderboard on the final day with a round of two-under.
• Harrison Hughston and Eric Boutwell each finished tied 11^th at one-under. Hugston shot 75 on day one and moved up 17 spots with a 68 in round two. Boutwell shot rounds of 70 and 73.
• Landon Wockenfuss competed as an individual and placed in a tie for 17^th at two-over with rounds of 75 and 71. His one-under round two moved him 11 spots up the leaderboard.

 
Team Highlights 

• Montevallo finished fourth out of 12 teams in the event with a total score of 577 for one over.
• UM shot a four-over 292 in round one and a three-under 285 in round two.
• The Falcons were one of three Gulf South Conference schools in the event. UM finished ahead of Mississippi College (6^th) and Christian Brothers (5^th), but behind Delta State (2^nd).

 
Up Next
The Falcons will return to action on Monday, April 8 for the final tournament before the Gulf South Conference Championships on April 22. UM will compete in the Argonaut Invitational, April 8-9, in Pensacola, Florida.
