Lefthanded hurler Adiel Melendez dominated the first two innings in game one and he went three, three down with two strikeouts.

The Montevallo bats built off of Melendez's momentum in the bottom of the second and plated four runs.  Daniel Irizarry reached on a fielder's choice and with two outs Jake O'Connell reached on an error that would score Irizarry. Next, Ethan Huddleston brought home O'Connell on a double left center. Connor Crowson cleared the bases and pushed the lead to 4-0 with a two-run bomb, his fourth, to right center.

Following the four spot at the plate for UM, Melendez gave up a solo homer in the third but added a K to get out of the inning without further damage.

In the fourth, Melendez recorded another strikeout and didn't allow any hits. However, a Montevallo error led to a UWG run, cutting the Falcons' lead in half, 4-2.

Montevallo answered the Wolves in the bottom of the fourth when Evan Liddie reached on an error, allowing Crowson to score, pushing the lead, 5-2.

The second error of the game for the Falcons led two three runs in the fifth for West Georgia to tie the score, 5-5.

Freshman right-handed reliever Zach Wyatt replaced Melendez in the top of the six, and grabbed two K's in his first inning.

A double down the right field line from Liddie, a Mitchell Walker sac fly, and a Logan Harbin single up the middle plated three more runs for the Falcons, breaking the tie.

Wyatt gave up a solo homer in the seventh but collected two more strikeouts to help hold UM in front. In the bottom of the frame, Jake O'Connell provided run support and knocked his first home run of the season, a two-run shot to right, to give UM a four-run advantage, 10-6.

The homer by O'Connell proved to be the difference as two solo homers by the Wolves in the eighth cut the lead to two, 10-8.

Chris Foster relieved Zach Wyatt in the eighth and got two quick outs. Foster remained on the mound in the ninth and struck out two to secure the win and earn his second save of the season.
