MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's lacrosse will host Alabama Huntsville on Saturday, April 13 at 12 p.m. in a game that could decide the Peach Belt Conference regular season title.
So Far This Season…
The Falcons come into the weekend with an unbeaten 2-0 mark in PBC play while tallying an 8-4 overall record. Montevallo opened the season with a 13-6 loss to No. 9 UIndy before making history with the first ranked win in program history with a 19-18 overtime win over No. 7 Florida Southern. The Falcons then added a 26-8 win over Tusculum before taking a 16-6 win over Mars Hill on Feb. 23. Montevallo then dropped back-to-back road contests at Embry-Riddle and Saint Leo. The Falcons returned to the win column with a 15-9 win over Young Harris before taking a dominant 25-8 win over Emmanuel. The Falcons capped a three-game win streak with a 22-9 road win over North Greenville on March 16. Montevallo's most recent loss came at the hands of No. 16 Maryville on March 23 before the Falcons opened the PBC schedule wit ha 19-16 win over defending PBC champions Lander on March 30. Most recently, Montevallo earned a 23-9 win over Shorter on April 6 for the fourth 20-goal game of the season.
Montevallo ranks No. 6 in the nation with an average of 16.67 goals per game while adding a seventh-ranked 10.50 assists per game for a total of 27.17 points. The Falcons rank second among national leaders with a .678 faceoff win percentage. UM's defense is also one of the top defenses in the nation with an average of 10.33 caused turnovers per game while grabbing an average of 43.75 ground balls per game which is second in Div. II. The Falcons' goalkeepers record an average 14.50 saves per game while allowing 12.25 goals per game.
Individually, the Falcons are led by
Matthew Boas with 26 goals while
Trevayne Hunter leads the team in both points and assists with 51 points and 29 assists while adding 22 goals on the season. Senior midfielder
Jackson Klewchuk has also tallied 22 goals while adding 13 assists for a total of 35 points. Defensively, Montevallo is led by
Max Citrano with 17 caused turnovers and a total of 28 ground balls. Senior
Gerry York leads the nation with a .745 faceoff win percentage with a 120-161 mark while leading the team with 62 ground balls. In the net, Ales Egorshin has tallied a .543 save percentage with a total of 158 saves and just a 12.71 goals against average.

Alabama Huntsville heads to Montevallo, Ala. with a 6-6 overall record and a 1-0 mark in conference play. Much like the Falcons, UAH dropped its opening match to No. 9 UIndy before going on a three-game win streak with a 16-14 win over Lincoln Memorial. The Chargers added a pair of wins over Tusculum and Young Harris before falling to Lynn and No. 18 Maryville in back-to-back contests. UAH returned to winning ways with a 12-9 win over William Jewell before falling in three-straight games to Rockhurst, Embry-Riddle and Lewis. In the first PBC game of the season, UAH walked away with a 17-15 win over Flagler on March 30. Most recently, UAH added a 22-12 win over Emmanuel on April 10.
UAH's attack scores 13.17 goals per game while adding 6.17 assists for a total of 19.33 points per game. The Chargers' defense allows just 12.50 goals per game while recording 28.92 ground balls per game and forcing 11.58 turnovers per game.
The Chargers are led by Pete Fabrizio with a total of 38 points on 31 goals and seven assists while David Friend and Ian Arnt rank second on the team with 20 goals apiece. Will Bond and Collin Galinski lead the squad with 17 caused turnovers each while Ty Cassidy holds a .438 faceoff win percentage with 106 faceoff wins on the season.

With seven meetings in the history of Montevallo men's lacrosse, Montevallo is 6-2 against the Chargers with the Falcons taking the first four matchups from 2019-2021. The most recent Charger win came on April 9, 2022 with a 14-13 UAH win. That same season, Montevallo defeated UAH, 15-9, in the 2022 PBC Championship game on May 8, 2022. Most recently, Montevallo took an overtime win over the Chargers with a golden goal from Klewchuk on April 8, 2023.
