MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's lacrosse is set to close the 2024 regular season with a trip to St. Augustine, Fla. to take on Flagler on Saturday, April 27.
So Far This Season…
The Falcons head into the final weekend of the regular season with a 9-4 overall record and a 3-0 mark in Peach Belt Conference action. Montevallo opened the season with a loss to No. 9 UIndy before earning the first ranked win in program history with a 19-18 overtime win over No. 7 Florida Southern on Feb. 10. The Falcons then returned home for a dominant 26-8 win over Tusculum on Feb. 18 before hosting Mars Hill in a 16-6 Montevallo win. UM then went on the road for a two-game trip in Florida that resulted in back-to-back losses at Embry-Riddle and Saint Leo. The Falcons snapped the two-game skid with a 15-9 win on the road at Young Harris before added a 25-8 win over Emmanuel on the road. Montevallo went on to take a 22-9 road victory over North Greenville before falling to No. 16 Maryville on March 23. The Falcons opened PBC action with a 19-16 win over defending champion Lander on March 30 before defeating Shorter 23-9 on April 6. In its most recent outing, Montevallo defeated Alabama Huntsville 15-8 on April 13 in the final home game of the season. With the Falcons' victory over UAH, Montevallo secured the No. 1 seed in the PBC Championship Tournament for the second time in program history and will host the 2024 PBC Tournament set for May 3-5.
The Falcons rank No. 1 in the PBC with a total of 215 goals on the season with a league-leading 16.54 goals per game average which also ranks fifth in the nation. Montevallo's .358 shooting percentage ranks fifth among national leaders while its average of 10.69 assists per game also rank No. 5 in Div. II. The Falcons' average of 44.38 ground balls per game are the second-most in all of Div. II while Montevallo forces an average of 10.92 turnovers per game. The Falcons are also one of the top faceoff teams in the nation with a .669 win percentage (fourth).
Individually, Montevallo is led on the offensive side by sophomore attacker
Matthew Boas with a total of 31 goals on the season while adding nine assists for a total of 40 points over the course of 12 games.
Trevayne Hunter leads the Falcons with 35 assists on the season for an average of 2.69 assists per game which ranks fifth in the nation. Defensively,
Luke Hennebaul highlights the Falcons' back end with 20 caused turnovers on the season while
Max Citrano has posted 19 so far. In the net,

th in Div. II with a .559 save percentage with a total of 179 saves on the season. Montevallo's
Gerry York has proven to be on of the top faceoff men in the nation with a .731 win percentage with a total of 125 wins in 2024.

Flagler enters the final weekend of the season with a 5-8 overall record and a 1-2 mark in PBC play after opening the season with a 9-8 win over Lynn. The Saints then dropped a matchup with No. 4 Tampa on Feb. 7 before rebounding with a 12-8 win over Embry-Riddle on Feb. 10. Flagler added a 14-13 win over Florida Tech on the road before falling in three-consecutive ranked matchups. The Saints' skid began with an overtime 14-13 loss to No. 15 Florida Southern before dropping a game to No. 2 Rollins, 14-10, on March 2. The Saints then fell to No. 19 Saint Leo, 12-8, on the road on March 9. Flagler bounced back with a 13-11 win over Barton on March 12 before falling to No. 1 Limestone and No. 17 Colorado Mesa in the final non-conference stretch. The Saints opened PBC action with a 17-15 loss to Alabama Huntsville before dropping a game to Lander, 13-12, in overtime. Most recently, Flagler took down Shorter, 28-8, on April 20.
Flagler's attack ranks fourth in the PBC with an average of 12.46 goals per game on an average of 41.46 shots per game and 25.31 shots on goal per game for a third-ranked .301 shot percentage. The Saints add 6.69 assists per game for an average of 19.15 points per game. Defensively, Flagler leads the league with a .783 penalty-kill percentage while forcing an average of 7.15 turnovers per contest. The Saints' back line allows just 12.98 goals per game while the Flagler keepers save 12.08 shots per game.
Individually, Flagler is highlighted by Trace McDonald with a total of 27 goals while adding a team-high 32 assists for a total of 59 points. McDonald is followed by Tyler Douglass with 20 goals and eight assists for 28 total points on the season. On the defensive side, Blake Gonzalez leads the Saints with 14 caused turnovers followed by John Kersey and Brandon Grusholt with nine and eight caused turnovers, respectively. The Flagler goalkeeping corps is led by Nate Lehr with a .467 save percentage with 128 saves with a 13.26 goals against average.

Montevallo trails in the series with Flagler, 1-2, with the two sides facing off in each of the last two seasons. The series opener featured an 18-8 Montevallo win on April 30, 2022 before the Falcons fell in the 2023 regular season, 15-9, on March 25, 2023. Most recently, Montevallo fell to Flagler, 15-13, in the second round of the 2023 PBC Championship Tournament.
