GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Communicators have named
Gerry York as a First Team Academic All-American for the second-consecutive season while
Alex Egorshin was named First Team Academic All-American in his first season of eligibility for the award.
York, a senior faceoff specialist for the Falcons, earned his second CSC Academic All-American after posting a 3.95 cumulative GPA in his business administration courses. On the field, York became the Falcons' all-time record holder with a .725 faceoff win percentage on a 140-for-193 mark which finished the 2024 season as the top mark in all of NCAA Div. II. Over the course of this latest season, the Hazel Green, Ala. native tallied three goals while scooping up a team-high 71 ground balls.
The Falcons' faceoff man tallied multiple post-season honors with a First Team All-PBC nod while also being one of the program's first USILA All-American Honorable Mention selection. Another All-American selection came in the form of a USA Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention with York also named as a third-team USILA All-South Region faceoff specialist.
York's second-consecutive First Team Academic All-American selection makes him the first Falcon ever to be named First Team All-American in consecutive seasons and just the fourth Falcon to win the award multiple times.
Egorshin, a sophomore goal keeper from Hoover, Ala., earned the All-American recognition after posted a 4.00 cummulative GPA in his chemistry studies. The second-year keeper finished the season with a PBC second-best 13.47 saves per game with a total of 202 saves. The Falcons' keeper started all 15 games in 2024 with an average of 12.23 goals allowed per game. Egorshin set a season low with just three goals allowed in Montevallo's win over Shorter on April 6.
The sophomore recieved post-season recognition in the form of a 2024 PBC Defensive Player of the Year honor while being named first team all-conference. The Hoover, Ala. native also garnered national recognition with one of the program's first USILA All-American selection while also earning the title of USILA All-South Region Honorable Mention.
