CLEVELAND, TN. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team defeats the Lee Flames in a five-set thriller on Saturday, Sept. 28.

GAME NOTES
- Nikol Antova set career-high's in kills with 25 (most kills in a match from any player inside the GSC), hitting percentage at .512 and two service aces.
- Claire Hayes had a season-high of six total blocks to go along with eight kills.
- Colton Thompson led the Falcons with 28 assists, two away from a season-high.
- Ava Wind had her 10th match this season where she had 10 or more digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
- UM opened up the match with three straight points with three straight kills coming from Claire Hayes and Nikol Antova.
- After a Lee point to stop the early run, Montevallo won the next four out of five points to go up 8-2.
- On their home court, Lee stayed composed and respond to the Falcon rally with a 5-1 run to climb back into the set.
- In an 11-16-hole, Lee battled back to tie the set up at 18-18.
- Out of the timeout, UM won the next five consecutive points.
- After two points by the Flames, Montevallo closed out the set with a block combined by Aliyah Thompson and Claire Hayes and an ace from Colton Thompson.
- C. Thompson had seven assists in the set.
Set 2
- Both teams combined for seven straight kills to open up the second set.
- After a block by Aliyah Thompson and Claire Hayes to bring the Falcons within one, Lee went on a 7-0 run to take a 14-6 advantage.
- Montevallo ended the Flame run with kills by Antova and Tyrrell.
- UM went of a 5-1 run. In the run, Atnova had three kills while Blakeley Robbins picked up two assists.
- Eliza Tyrrell brought the Falcons within one as she connected with Kalin Duncan for three straight kills.
- A block by Danielle Green and Brooklyn Hudson tied the set up at 22-22.
- The Falcons took their first lead of the set and pulled away to take the set with a dump off kill by Colton Thompson, a kill by Antova assisted by Duncan and a combined block by Green and A. Thompson.
Set 3
- The Falcons ran into a buzz saw in the third set as Lee was unstoppable with a .619 hitting percentage.
- Up 5-3, Lee went on an 8-0 run including three kills and three aces.
- The Flames took the set as they had four kills out of their last five points.
Set 4
- Lee carried the momentum from the third set to the fourth by taking the first four points.
- After a Grace Petro ace tied the set up at 8-8, Lee won the next seven out of eight points.
- Down 16-22, Montevallo won the next four out of five points highlighted by two blocks by Ellise Hanson, an ace by Colton Thompson and a kill by Eliza Tyrrell.
- The Flames pulled away to tie the match up at 2-2 with a kill and an error on the Falcons.
Set 5
- Montevallo started the deciding set to a 3-1 advantage with a kill by Brooklyn Hudson and Claire Hayes, both assisted by Colton Thompson.
- UM went on a 5-1 run to take a 8-3 lead, with kills by Greene and Antova, and aces by Duncan and Antova.
- Lee took the next three points to shorten the gap to 8-6.
- Both teams exchanged three points swings to make it 12-11 in Montevallo's favor.
- A block by Hayes and Tyrrell gave the Falcons a 13-11 lead, but Lee slammed down a kill to take the point back.
- The Falcons won the final two out of three points with kills from Hayes and Antova, both assited by C. Thompson to take the match.

Montevallo will return home for their annual Pack the Sac match against Mississippi College on Tuesday, Oct. 1 starting at 6:00 p.m. CT. The Pack the SAC event will feature special guest, T-Mobile for a check presentation to the University of Montevallo's Grainger Community Counseling and Wellness Clinic– T-Mobile's Hometown Grant recipient. To celebrate, there will be a pre-game block party open to all, beginning at 4 p.m. in front of the McChesney Student Activity Center. The event will feature several food trucks, music, games and complimentary beverages and dessert. Fans are encouraged to attend the pre-game festivities and continue the celebration at the volleyball game beginning at 6 p.m. The Hometown Grant will officially be awarded during the games' set break. T-Mobile will be on-site with plenty of giveaway items for fans in attendance.
