HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1
- Fueled by a packed crowd for Pack the Sac/T-Mobile Night, Montevallo started off hot by rattling off five consecutive points including kills by Eliza Tyrrell, Claire Hayes and Brooklyn Hudson. Colton Thompson had two aces in the run.
- Mississippi College would fight back to make it 8-7, advantage Falcons.
- The Falcons took advantage of three Choctaw errors but MC tied the set up at 11-11.
- Montevallo won the next three points with two errors and an Aliyah Thompson kill.
- Both teams exchanged points back and fourth to 17-15.
- After two Falcon points, Mississippi College took four straight points to tie it up at 19-19.
- Tied 22-22, Montevallo would take the set with a kill from Hayes and Hudson then finished off with blocks by the two.
Set 2
- After the set was tie at 12-12, Mississippi College created cushion with a 7-1 run.
- Montevallo battled back with a 5-1 run including kills by Claire Hayes and Katie Wilkerson.
- A kill by Hayes off a set from Colton Thompson and a Choctaw error brought the Falcons within one at 22-21.
- MC took the second set with a 3-1 run.
- The kill battle was even with the Choctaws edging the Falcons out 15-14.
Set 3
- MC came out hot by taking the first three points.
- Montevallo tied it up with kills by Nikol Antova, assisted by Ava Wind and Colton Thompson.
- The Falcons tied up the set and took the lead at 10-9 with two errors committed by Mississippi College.
- The Choctaws won the next five consecutive points with two kills, two aces and a Falcon miscue.
- MC took another 5-0 run including four Falcon errors.
- Montevallo made a late run at the Choctaws with an ace by Blakeley Robbins and kill sby Danielle Greene and Nikol Antova.
- A Choctaw kill won the set for MC.
- Mississippi College won the set despite their lowest hitting percentage of the night (.139) and their lowest number of kills in a set (11).
Set 4
- Mississippi College was on fire as they recorded 21 kills out of their 25 points.
- The Falcons had their best hitting percentage in a set at .286 but the Mississippi College attack was too much for UM in the fourth set.
