MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo women's soccer heads to Huntsville, Ala. to take on seventh-seeded Mississippi College for a chance to go to the 2025 Gulf South Conference championship game.

Montevallo heads to its third-consecutive semifinal appearance as the No. 3 seed in the 2025 GSC tournament after finishing the regular season with a 10-5-2 overall record and an 8-2-2 mark in conference play. The Falcons posted a 1-2 record in nonconference play before opening the with six-consecutive victories before taking its first draw of the season on Oct. 8 at Mississippi College. Montevallo picked up a win over Delta State on Oct. 11 before falling into a slump to close the season with a 2-3-1 record in the final six games of the season. Montevallo's tournament run opened with a 3-2 win over Spring Hill on Saturday, Nov. 8 behind a pair of goals from
Lainey Farabaugh and the game-winner from
Ayla Ertekin.
Montevallo ranks third in the GSC with a total of 32 goals on the season while adding a total of 26 assists for the fourth most points in the GSC at 90. Montevallo fires on average 15.28 shots per game for the fourth most in the GSC while adding 7.11 shots on goal per game for the same ranking. The Falcons' defense has allowed an average of 1.17 goals per game with the Falcons' totaling nine shutouts on the season for the fifth most in the GSC while allowing just 8.8 shots per game and 4.22 shots on goal per game.
The Falcons' attack is led by
Lainey Farabaugh who has tallied a total of 11 goals, including four game winners, on the season for the second most in the GSC on a total of 47 shots with 22 shots on goal.
Morgan Goehring leads Montevallo with a total of eight assists on the season while adding five goals for a total of 18 points in 2025.
Ayla Ertekin ranks third on the squad with 13 points on five goals and three assists as the newly crowned GSC Freshman of the Year. In the net,
Jolie Cazale and Ciarra Duff have split time to post nine shutouts on the season while Cazale has tallied 21 saves and Duff recorded a total of 28.
Mississippi College enters Thursday's matchup with an 8-8-3 overall record and a 5-5-2 mark in conference play after opening the season with a 1-3-1 record in nonconference play. MC opened conference play with a loss to West Florida before topping Christian Brothers and Union. MC then dropped a meeting with Delta State before drawing with Montevallo on Oct. 8. The Choctaws then topped UAH before falling to UWA and Lee in back-to-back outings. MC closed the regular season with a win over AUM before falling to Valdosta State. In the first round of the GSC tournament, MC knocked off No. 2 Lee in a 1-0 shutout to advance to the semifinals.
MC ranks first in the GSC with a total of 44 goals on the season while firing and average of 12.11 shots per game with 6.32 shots per game on target. The Choctaws have added a total of 23 assists on the season for 111 points to lead the GSC. Defensively, Mississippi College allows 1.11 goals per game on an average of 9.9 shots per game and 4.42 shots on goal per contest.
Addison Weems leads MC's attack with eight goals on the season on 14 shots with 12 on frame while Vail Wartes ranks second with 10 points on five goals with 27 total shots and 13 on goal. The Choctaws top the squad with three assists each in Charlie Cooper, Anna Adkins and Erin Stamatopoulos. In the net, Celine Grothe has carried the load with 51 saves on the season and just 10 goals allowed while posting a total of eight shutouts on the season.
