MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo Athletics has named Men's Basketball's
Brandon Fussell and Women's Basketball's
Emily Mouser as the Montevallo Players of the Week presented by Jack's for the week of Dec. 8.
Brandon Fussell (Men's Basketball)
Junior guard
Brandon Fussell delivered one of his most productive weeks of the season, anchoring the Falcons' backcourt in a pair of Gulf South Conference road contests and showcasing the consistency that has made him one of Montevallo's most reliable scorers and players. Across two games, Fussell averaged 17.5 points, 5.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and shot 50 percent from the floor, including a perfect 3 for 3 from deep against Trevecca.
Fussell opened the week with a strong performance in Montevallo's conference opener at Lee, leading the Falcons with 15 points on 5 of 15 shooting while adding four assists and three rebounds. The junior provided key scoring spurts throughout the first half, including back-to-back buckets that trimmed the Flames' lead to four and later helping bring the deficit to one possession with a trip to the free throw line. He also contributed defensively with a steal in 32 minutes of action.
On Saturday, Fussell delivered his best outing of the season in a 90-60 win against Trevecca. He paced all scorers with 20 points on an efficient 8 of 12 shooting, including 3 for 3 beyond the arc. Fussell added six rebounds, six assists, three steals, and a block, controlling the tempo from start to finish.
Emily Mouser (Women's Basketball)
Freshman guard
Emily Mouser delivered the most complete week of her young career, emerging as Montevallo's top scorer across two conference road matchups. Mouser averaged 13.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, and shot 47.6 percent from the field, including 5 of 8 from the three-point range.
She opened the week with a strong all-around performance at Lee, scoring 10 points on 4 of 10 shooting while matching her season high with five assists. Mouser played a key role in Montevallo's fourth quarter push.
Mouser followed that with a breakout performance at Trevecca, leading all Falcons with a season high 17 points on 6 of 12 shooting, including 3 of 5 from beyond the arc. She added a team high eight rebounds, two assists, and knocked down a pair of free throws as she continued to showcase her efficiency and poise. Mouser sparked several key stretches in the third quarter.
