Falcons Host Saint Leo and Thomas More In Two Game Homestand

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's lacrosse puts its unbeaten record on the line with a pair of home games against Saint Leo and Thomas More.
 
So Far This Season…
The Falcons head into the second weekend of home action with a 3-0 record after opening the season with a 24-15 win over Emmanuel on Feb. 1 before topping Mars Hill, 13-5, on Feb. 5. Most recently, Montevallo tallied a dominant 27-4 road victory over Emory & Henry on Friday, Feb. 7.
 
Montevallo leads the Peach Belt Conference with a total of 64 goals through three games for an average of 21.33 goals per game while adding 47 assists for a total of 111 points or 37.00 points per game. Defensively, the Falcons rank second in the PBC with an average of 8.48 goals against per game while tallying a .547 save percentage and allowing just three goals on 12 Montevallo penalties. Montevallo leads the PBC with an average of 56.00 ground balls per game while posting a .804 faceoff win percentage.
 
Individually, the Falcons' attack is led by Matthew Boas with a total of nine goals while adding six assists for a team-high 15 points on 19 shots with 12 shots on goal. Jacob Obee ranks second on the squad with nine points on seven goals and two assists with a pair of game-winning goals. Michael Howkins leads the Falcons with nine assists while adding two goals for 11 points. Nolan Ross and James Trainer highlight the Falcons' defense with four caused turnovers each while Alex Egorshin has recorded a .543 save percentage in net with just 10.09 goals allowed per game. Brandon Shaffner leads the nation with a .869 faceoff win percentage in the first three games of the season on a 53-for-61 mark at the dot.

Saint Leo opens the season against the Falcons on Feb. 13 after finishing 2024 with a 9-6 overall record and a 3-4 mark in Sunshine State Conference play. A season ago, the Lions took an early exit from the SSC tournament after a 20-15 loss to Florida Southern in the first round of the tournament.
 
A season ago, Greg Palmer led the Lions with 71 points on 42 goals and 29 assists while Aidan Knoetgen ranks second in the returners with 23 goals and 22 assists for a total of 45 points.
 
Series History Against Saint Leo:
Since 2022, Montevallo is just 1-2 against Saint Leo since the series began on Feb. 18, 2022, in a 19-11 Saint Leo win. The Falcons then took a 17-9 win over the Lions on Feb. 19, 2023, in Montevallo, Ala. Most recently, Saint Leo defeated the Falcons, 22-12, on March 2, 2024.

Thomas More opens the season against the Falcons during Saturday's matchup. In 2024, the Saints finished with a 2-10 overall record with wins over Davis & Elkins College and Tiffin.
 
Spencer Lethbridge led the Saints in the 2024 with 29 points on 15 goals and 14 assists while Bryce Collins scored a team-high 19 goals while adding four assists for 23 points.
 
Series History Against Thomas More:
The Falcons and Saints were scheduled to battle on March 5, 2023, but the first meeting the series was cancelled.
