Montevallo Travels to Belmont Abbey for Road Contest

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's lacrosse heads to Belmont, N.C. to take on Belmont Abbey at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22.
 
So Far This Season…
Montevallo heads into its lone matchup of the weekend with a 4-1 record after opening the season with a 24-15 win over Emmanuel in the home opener before heading to Mars Hill on Feb. 5 for a 13-5 UM victory. Montevallo moved on to take a dominant 27-4 win over Emory & Henry on the road. The Falcons suffered the first loss of the season in a 14-13 defeat at home against Saint Leo on Feb. 13. Montevallo rebounded with a 19-13 win over Thomas More on Feb. 15 in the Falcons' most recent outing.
 
The Falcons average 19.2 goals per game on a .673 shots on goal mark with an average of 35 shots on goal per game. The falcons also lead the Peach Belt Conference with an average of 32.80 points per game while adding 13.6 assists per game. Defensively, Montevallo allows just 10 goals per game while forcing a league-high 13.2 caused turnovers per game and picking up 50 ground balls per game.
 
Matthew Boas leads the Falcons' attack with a team-high 25 points on 15 goals and 10 assists while scoring a pair of man-up goals. John Spaans ranks second on the team with 10 goals and four assists while Collin Schuster and James Trainer lead the defense with seven caused turnovers. Alex Egorshin heads the Falcons' goalkeeping corps with just 11.43 goals against per game while tallying a total of 46 saves on the season.

The Crusaders host Montevallo after posting a 1-2 record to open the season after topping Mars Hill, 14-6, on Feb. 1. BAC then dropped a meeting with Rollins, 17-6, on Feb. 7 before falling to Catawba, 13-11, in the Crusaders most recent outing.
 
BAC has scored an average of 10.1 goals per game on a .481 shots on goal percentage with an average of 20.67 shots on goal per game. The Crusaders add an average of 5.33 assists per game for 15.67 points per game. Defensively, Belmont Abbey forces 7.33 turnovers per game while picking up 30.0 ground balls and recording just 12.0 goals against.
 
A trio of Crusaders lead the attack with five goals while Jeremy Mahoney added three assists for a team-high eight points. Clare Garrett ranks second on the squad with seven points on five goals and two assists while Nate Lorenzo holds six points on five goals and one assist. Mahoney and Luc Danis lead the team with four caused turnovers each while Christian Tomei allows just 12.00 goals per game with a total of 50 saves on the season.
 
Series History Against Belmont Abbey:
Montevallo is 0-2 against the Crusaders in the all-time series. In 2020, Montevallo opened the series with a 21-6 loss at home before facing off on Feb. 27, 2021, in a 12-8 road loss for the Falcons.
