MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo acrobatics and tumbling falls to Wingate on Tuesday, Mar. 18 inside Central State Bank Arena. Despite putting up season-high's in the compulsory and toss event, the Falcons are now 2-3 on the season while Wingate improves to 5-3.
The Falcons came out hot in the compulsory as they scored a season-high of 35.35 total points. In the acro heat, UM scored a season-high 8.85 as well as in the pyramid heat with a mark of 9.70. Montevallo just missed another season-high in the toss where they received a 9.40, just .15 off their best mark of 2025. The Falcons edged out Wingate for the event 35.35-34.55.
In the acro event, Montevallo scored their second-best mark of the season in the 5-element with a 9.30 which was the team of
Mel Low,
Corrine Wilcox,
Katlyn Smith and
Jessica Batcho. They scored 24.10 for the event and was narrowed out by the Bulldog's 26.60. In the event, Wingate had a 9.40 in the 5-element and a 9.25 in the 7-element.
After Wingate won the pyramid event 26.85-23.45, Montevallo bounced back with a season-high of 25.45 in the toss event with scores of 8.65 in the 450 salto, an 8.25 in the synchronized heat and an 8.55 in the open toss. Heat's two and three would be the Falcons best mark of 2025.
Montevallo put together a nice score of 48.850 in the tumbling event, highlighted by a 9.70 by
Avery Grant in the aerial pass. This is her fourth consecutive score of 9.35 or higher in the aerial pass this season. In the duo pass,
Avery Grant and
Katie Quinn tied their season-high score of 8.35. The Falcons won their second event of the afternoon as Wingate scored 48.400.
Wingate was able to put the Falcons away beat UM in the team event 83.43-79.53.

The Falcons will now turn their attention to their final road meet of the 2025 season as they take on Presbyterian on Thursday, Mar. 27 in Clinton, South Carolina. This will be Montevallo's first meet against a division I opponent in program history.
