Box Score YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The men's tennis team secured a hard-fought victory over Young Harris College on Tuesday, claiming a crucial 4-3 win on the road.
The Falcons started strong in doubles play, taking two of the three matches to secure the doubles point.
Dylan Kamel and
Luiz Brandao set the tone with a 6-3 victory at the No. 1 spot, while
Ryota Nakajima and
Guilherme Gracioli clinched a tight 7-6(2) win at No. 3.
In singles action, Montevallo continued its strong performance.
Paul Sobich dominated at No. 1, winning 6-3, 6-2, while Gracioli added another key win at No. 3 with a 6-0, 7-5 victory.
Gabriel Variano delivered the clinching point at No. 6, winning in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Despite the win, Young Harris battled hard, picking up victories at No. 2, No. 4, and No. 5 singles. The No. 4 and No. 5 matches both went to third-set tiebreakers, with
Luiz Brandao and
Ryota Nakajima narrowly falling in their matches.
With this victory, Montevallo continues to build momentum heading into their next matchup. The Falcons will look to extend their winning streak when they return to action later this week.
