BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After a solid week in the circle,
Taylor Lloyd was named GSC Pitcher of the Week for the first time this season and second time in her career.
The Soddy Daisy, Tenn. native picked up a pair of wins this weekend, as Montevallo swept No. 24 West Alabama. Lloyd only allowed two runs in 12 innings pitched (1.17 ERA), while racking up 13 strikeouts. The junior had an opposing batting average of .283.
Lloyd opened the weekend with a strong complete game performance in game one. Lloyd allowed two earned runs and struck out seven batters in seven innings, as Montevallo earned the 4-3 victory.
The junior came back later that day, pitching five innings in relief to pick up her second win. Lloyd allowed no earned runs and struck out six, as Montevallo defeated UWA 6-5 in ten innings.
Lloyd and the Falcons return to action on Tuesday, March 18, for a doubleheader against Miles at Softball Stadium at Orr Park.
