MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's lacrosse returns to central Alabama for a meeting with North Greenville on Saturday, March 8.
So Far This Season…
The Falcons enter the weekend with a 5-2 overall record to earn the No. 19 ranking in the USA Lacrosse Magazine Poll and the No. 20 ranking in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. Montevallo opened the season with a 24-15 win over Emmanuel at home before heading out for a 13-5 win over Mars Hill and a dominant 27-4 victory at Emory & Henry on Feb. 7. The Falcons suffered the first loss of the season on Feb. 13 in a 14-13 defeat at the hands of Saint Leo. Montevallo responded with a 19-13 win over Thomas More at home on Feb. 15. The Falcons then went on a two-game road trip that saw an 6-5 overtime loss at Belmont Abbey on Feb. 22 before Montevallo took down No. 9 UIndy, 13-12, on March 1.
Montevallo leads the nation with a total of 81 assists with the average of 11.57 assists per game ranking second among national leaders. The Falcons' average of 46.57 ground balls per game ranks second in the nation. Montevallo leads the peach belt with an average of 16.43 goals per game on an average of 47.00 shots per game and 31.29 shots on goal per contest. Defensively, Montevallo records an average of 11.57 caused turnovers per game while adding a league-high 46.57 ground balls. The Falcons allow just 10.41 goals per game with Montevallo leading the league with 14.00 saves per game.

Matthew Boas who has scored 19 goals on the season while adding 11 assists for a total of 30 points with three man-up goals and 15 ground balls.
Michael Howkins ranks second on the squad with 19 points on seven goals and 12 assists while
Caden Chalut tallied 18 points on 13 goals and five assists.
Nolan Ross highlights the Falcons' defense with 10 caused turnovers while
James Trainer ranks second on the team with nine.
Alex Egorshin highlights Montevallo's goalkeeping corps with just 10.28 goals allowed per game with a .599 save percentage on 82 saves.

North Greenville claims a 3-3 record ahead of the Crusaders' meeting with Montevallo. NGU opened the season with a 17-12 home win over Lincoln Memorial on Feb. 1 before falling to Florida Tech and Lynn in back-to-back outings. North Greenville returned to the win column with a 12-10 home win over No. 17 Anderson on Feb. 21. NGU then dropped a meeting with Embry-Riddle on March 1. Most recently, NGU topped Emmanuel, 29-18, on Tuesday, March 4.
NGU ranks second in the Conference Carolinas with an average of 13.00 goals per game while adding 7.33 assists for an average of 20.33 points per game which also ranks second in the league. The Crusaders have tallied 15 man-up goals on the season for an average of 2.50 per game. Defensively, NGU records 8.50 caused turnovers per game while picking up 29.00 ground balls per game. The Crusaders allow an average of 13.03 goals per game on a .439 save percentage.
NGU's attack is led by Caden Castle who has tallied 25 points on the season with 19 goals and six assists while Hayden Moffat ranks second on the team with 22 points on 14 goals and eight assists with a total of six man-up goals. Cole Jenkins highlights NGU's defense with a team-high 11 caused turnovers while Seth Broseman leads the team with 23 ground balls.
Series History Against North Greenville:
Montevallo leads the all-time series against the Crusaders with a 4-0 record since the series began back in 2018. Montevallo has posted a 2-0 record both at home and on the road with Montevallo's largest win coming a season ago with a 22-9 victory on March 16, 2024.
