LOUISVILLE, Ky. –
Bentlee Stiner's strong week propelled her to earn national honors, being named the Division II Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player of the Week. Stiner is the first player in program history to garner NFCA Player of the Week honors.
The Chattanooga, Tenn. native receives national recognition after being named Gulf South Conference Player of the Week.
Stiner had a solid week, recording 11 hits, ten RBIs, five home runs, and scoring 12 runs, as she helped Montevallo secure a doubleheader sweep over Miles and a 2-1 series victory over Lee. On the week, Stiner posted a .611 batting average, 1.722 slugging percentage, and a .682 on-base percentage. Stiner recorded at least one hit and one RBI in all five games.
The junior opened the week with a strong outing in the midweek doubleheader at Miles. In game two, Stiner went 4-for-5 which included three home runs, tying the program record for home runs hit in a single game.
Stiner went 6-for-10 in Montevallo's three-game game series against Lee, which included a pair of leadoff home runs in games one and two.
Montevallo is back in action this weekend, as the Falcons host Delta State (Apr. 4-5) at Softball Stadium at Orr Park.
