Montevallo Closes Regular Season Against UAH

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's lacrosse closes the regular season on Saturday, April 19 when the Falcons host Alabama Huntsville for Senior Day.
 
So Far This Season…
The Falcons open the weekend with a 9-5 overall record and an 0-2 mark in conference play after opening the season with a 24-15 win over Emmanuel at home. Montevallo would go on to add a 13-5 road win over Mars Hill before closing the road trip with a 27-4 win over Emory & Henry on Feb. 7. Montevallo suffered its first loss of the season on Feb. 13 when the Falcons fell to Saint Leo, 14-13. The Falcons picked up a 19-13 home win over Thomas More before falling in overtime to Belmont Abbey, 7-6. Montevallo added just its second win over a top 10 team with a 13-12 win over No. 9 UIndy on March 1. The Falcons continued its win streak with a 12-7 win over North Greenville on March 8 before topping William Jewell, 22-11. The Falcons dropped a matchup to No. 12 Maryville on March 22, 12-11, in overtime before closing the nonconference slate with a pair of road wins over Malone and Walsh in late March. The Falcons opened conference play with a 16-13 road loss to Lander before, most recently, falling to No. 6 Flagler, 16-9, on April 12.
 
Montevallo leads the Peach Belt Conference with an average of 25.07 points per game on 15.57 goals and 9.50 assists per game while recording a .339 shots percentage on 46.00 shots and 29.57 shots on goal per game. Montevallo also tops the PBC with a .682 faceoff win percentage while adding a league-high 45.50 ground balls per game. Defensively, Montevallo allows just 10.52 goals per game with a league best .598 save percentage.
 
Individually, Matthew Boas leads the Falcons with 62 points on 46 goals and 16 assists while John Spaans ranks second on the team with 34 points on 20 goals and 14 assists. Senior Nolan Ross highlights the Falcons' defenders with a team-high 21 caused turnovers on the season while adding 30 ground balls. Brandon Shaffner is one of the top faceoff specialists in all of Division II with a .708 faceoff win percentage on a 207-for-291 mark with a team-high 126 ground balls. In the net, Alex Egorshin allows just 10.58 goals per game with a total of 200 saves on the season and a .606 save percentage.

UAH heads into the final weekend of the regular season with a 2-12 overall record and an 0-2 mark in PBC action after opening the season with a pair of road losses at Embry-Riddle and No. 4 Limestone before dropping a close 13-12 game to Lees-McRae on Feb. 16. UAH's first homestand of the season saw the Chargers fall to no. 12 Maryville and No. 16 Saint Leo before picking up the first win of the season on March 5 with a 16-11 win over Quincy. The Chargers closed the four-game homestand with a 16-6 loss to Rockhurst before going on the road for losses at Lynn and Florida Tech in mid-March. UAH's last win came on March 18 when the Chargers topped William Jewell, 17-7. UAH closed the nonconference schedule with a pair of road losses at Lewis and UIndy. UAH opened conference play with a 17-11 loss to No. 6 Flagler. Most recently, UAH fell to Lander, 16-6.
 
The Chargers average 13.50 points per game on 9.14 goals and 4.36 assists with a .256 shots percentage on 35.71 shots and 21.14 shots on goal per game. UAH scoops an average of 25.64 ground balls per game while posting a .507 faceoff win percentage. Defensively, UAH forces 8.57 turnovers per game while allowing 14.15 goals per game with a .484 save percentage.
 
Individually, UAH is led by Pete Fabrizio with a total of 45 points on 33 goals and 12 assists while Chris Aiello leads the team with 17 assists. Collin Galinski leads the Chargers' defense with 16 caused turnovers on the season while picking up 19 ground balls. Hunter Coleman heads UAH's faceoff corps with a .557 win percentage on a 162-291 mark at the dot.
 
Series History Against UAH:
Montevallo leads the all-time series against the Chargers with a 7-2 record since the series began on April 7, 2018. UAH took the series opener, 13-6, but the Falcons would go on a four-game win streak from 2019-2021. UAH added another win over Montevallo on April 9, 2022. Since then, Montevallo has taken each of the last three meetings culminating in a 15-8 UM win on April 13, 2024.
