MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's lacrosse claimed its first ever NCAA Division II Statistical Championship after averaging 44.94 ground balls per game.

Montevallo's 44.94 ground balls per game mark the highest average in program history while the Falcons' total of 719 ground balls set a new UM record. The Falcons were the lone team hailing from the Peach Belt Conference to average 40 or more ground balls per game with Lander (35.38) ranking second in the league, Flagler (29.71) third and Alabama Huntsville (28.38) fourth. Across the nation, Montevallo is one of four teams in Div. II to average 40 or more ground balls per game alongside Anderson (42.17), Frostburg State (41.88) and Seton Hill (40.40).
On Feb. 7 and March 26, the Falcons set a season high with a total of 64 ground balls in the pair of wins for the ninth-most in a single game by any NCAA Div. II team this season and fourth-most in program history.
