Trainer Named USILA Scholar All-American, Falcons Receive Team Academic Award

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association has released its 2024-25 USILA Team Academic Awards with Montevallo earning a team honor and James Trainer named Scholar All-Americans.

James Trainer adds to his post-season awards tally with a Scholar All-American selection after posting a 3.65 GPA as a Business Administration major. As a defender in his senior season, the Seattle, Wash. native started in all 16 games while leading the team with a total of 28 caused turnovers and a total of 35 ground balls. Trainer's senior season featured a First Team All-Peach Belt selection while also earning PBC Team of Academic Distinction and CSC Academic All-District honors.
 
As a team, the Falcons earned a 2025 Team Academic Award with a cumulative team GPA of 3.10.
 
A Scholar All-American must be nominated by his coach and be a student with a senior year academic standing and a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 scale). He will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field. He must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team, or an outstanding league or conference player. Team Academic Awards are given to any team that achieves a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
