Men's Lacrosse Set for Road Trip to UAH

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's lacrosse continues its Peach Belt Conference schedule with a trip to Huntsville, Ala. to take on Alabama Huntsville on Saturday, April 4 at 1 p.m.

The Falcons head into the weekend with a 5-7 overall record and a 1-0 start to PBC play after posting a 21-6 win over Emmanuel on Jan. 30 to open the season. Montevallo then fell in back-to-back outings at Embry-Riddle and No. 19 Saint Leo on a two-game road trip to Florida. Montevallo returned to the win column with an 12-8 win at No. 20 North Greenville on Feb. 14 before taking an 18-10 win over Mars Hill in the Falcons' home opener on Feb. 18. UM then dropped a meeting with Belmont Abbey, 8-7, before falling to No. 6 Anderson, 22-16, on Feb. 28. Montevallo picked up a 15-5 win on March 7 against Young Harris to close it four-game home stand. Montevallo then went on the road to No. 4 Tampa for a loss on March 14 before falling to Palm Beach Atlantic, 11-9, on March 15. Montevallo closed its three-game road trip with a 9-8 loss at No. 7 Maryville on March 21. To open conference play, the Falcons took a dominant 22-2 win over Virginia State at home on March 28.
 
The Falcons' attack averages 20.25 points per game on an average of 12.42 goals per game while adding 7.83 assists. Montevallo has fired an average of 42.6 shots per game while posting 25.4 shots on goal per game for a .292 shot percentage. The Falcons rank fourth nationally with an average of 40.75 ground balls per game while adding a .537 faceoff win percentage and a .818 clearing mark. Defensively, Montevallo allows just 11.17 goals per game on the nation's second-best mark of 17.08 saves per game while adding an average of 12.50 caused turnovers per game.
 
Matthew Boas leads Montevallo with a total of 53 points on a team-high 33 goals while adding 20 assists to go along with 18 ground balls and four caused turnovers. Lucas Mullen leads the squad with 21 assists while adding 25 goals for a total of 46 points on the season with 17 ground balls and four caused turnovers. Collin Schuster leads the defense with a total of 20 caused turnovers while adding 23 ground balls and a pair of assists. At the dot, Brandon Shaffner has posted a 113-for-181 mark on faceoffs for a .624 faceoff mark while adding 64 ground balls. In goal, Alex Egorshin has posted a .619 save percentage with a total of 197 saves on the season with just an 11.38 goals against average.
 
The Chargers enter the weekend with a 3-10 overall mark and an 0-1 record in conference action after opening the season with an 8-7 overtime win over Lees-McRae on Feb. 1. UAH then fell in back-to-back meetings at Saint Leo and Embry-Riddle on Feb. 6 and 8, respectively. The Chargers then dropped a matchup with Concordia Irvine on Feb. 13 before taking a 16-9 win over Dominican on Feb. 15. UAH lost to Maryville, 17-7, on Feb. 21 before topping Quincy, 13-9, on Feb. 23. UAH started a six-game skid with a 10-7 loss against Palm Beach Atlantic before falling to Indianapolis, 19-8, on March 7. The Chargers then fell in back-to-back road meetings with Belmont Abbey and Catawba before opening conference action with a 14-5 loss against Flagler on March 21. Most recently, UAH fell to Lincoln Memorial, 9-8, on March 28.
 
UAH averages 12.23 points per game on 8.54 goals and 3.69 assists while posting a .239 shots percentage on an average of 35.7 shots per game. The Chargers have posted an average of 32.92 ground balls per game while adding a .416 faceoff win percentage and a .783 clearing percentage. Defensively, UAH allows 14.54 goals per game while posting an average of 13.08 goals per game and adding 7.62 caused turnovers.
 
Aydan Weiszhar leads UAH with a total of 29 points on 24 goals and five assists while adding five man-up goals, 12 ground balls and a caused turnover. Chris Aiello adds 28 points on a team-high 13 assists while scoring 15 goals to go along with 16 ground balls and three caused turnovers. Will Bond highlights the Chargers' defense with 17 caused turnovers while adding 26 ground balls to go along with one goal on the season. Brendan Thompson leads the faceoff corps with a 92-for-207 mark for a .444 faceoff percentage while adding a team-high 36 ground balls. Jake Sander leads UAH's goalies with 96 saves on the season for a .475 save percentage while allowing 14.49 goals per game.
