GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Montevallo volleyball team picked up a pair of wins on Friday, downing Tusculum 3-1 before cruising past Southern Wesleyan in straight sets at Pioneer Arena.

The Falcons traded points early, pulling even at 12-12 after a kill from
Ellise Hanson. Tusculum responded with a 5-1 run to build separation at 17-13. Montevallo closed the gap late behind back-to-back kills from
Danielle Greene, but the Pioneers held on for the 25-21 win.
Montevallo flipped the script in the second set. After a 6-6 tie, the Falcons rattled off a 7-2 run fueled by two kills from Greene and a block from
Nikol Antova to go up 13-8.
Blakeley Robbins added an ace to extend the lead to 18-12, and UM never looked back. Greene sealed the set with another kill, evening the match with a 25-18 victory.
The third set was a thriller with 9 ties and 3 lead changes. The Falcons trailed 20-17 before storming back with a 5-1 run to go ahead 22-21. Tusculum saved two set points to knot it at 24-24, but Greene hammered home her 15th kill and Antova followed with a block to close it out, 26-24.
The Falcons took control from the start, using a 9-3 run capped by a Robbins service ace to surge ahead 13-6. Tusculum pulled within four at 16-12, but Montevallo responded with a decisive 6-1 burst. Antova's final kill gave the Falcons a 25-17 win to clinch the match.

- Danielle Greene posted a career-high 19 kills on .621 hitting while adding 5 blocks.
- Blakeley Robbins dished out 25 assists and served three aces, while Lily Erdal added 16 assists.
- The Falcons held Tusculum to an .071 hitting percentage.

Both teams traded points in the early going until the Falcons got some separation thanks to a 4-0 run to take a 9-5 lead. Back-to-back kills by
Eliza Tyrrell put UM in front 17-11, and Montevallo secured the set's final three points to take the opener, 25-20.
The Falcons put up a dominant showing in the second set, jumping out to an 8-3 lead en route to a 25-13 win. After Southern Wesleyan got within five at 13-8, Montevallo notched 12 of the final 17 points to take control of the match.
UM carried the momentum into the third set, putting together another dominant showing to secure the contest with a 25-15 win. After once again getting out to an early advantage, the Falcons held the Warriors at bay to finish off their second win of the day.

UP NEXT: Montevallo returns to action next weekend in Aiken, S.C., for a trio of matches. The Falcons open play on Friday against Augusta at 12:00 p.m. before taking on Lander and USC Aiken on Saturday.
