DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The University of Montevallo volleyball team continued play at the Bahama House Classic on Saturday, dropping a pair of matches to Flagler and 6th-ranked MSU Denver.

Montevallo took control in the early portion of the first as
Eliza Tyrrell's kill midway through the set capped a 9-1 run and gave the Falcons an 11-4 lead. UM continued to push ahead, extending their lead to as many as nine at 16-7. Despite a late surge by Flagler, Montevallo secured the opener by a score of 25-16.
The Falcons grabbed an advantage early in the second set as a service ace from
Lily Erdal put UM in front 9-4. Flagler was able to string some points together to even things at 13, but Montevallo answered with four straight to once again to create separation.
The Saints responded to tie the contest late, and after the Falcons took a 26-25 lead, Flagler scored three unanswered points to even the match at a set apiece. The Saints took control behind a .344 hitting percentage and never trailed as to take the third set, 25-16.
The Falcons battled to extend the match in the fourth, trading points with Flagler through the early stages. Kills from Mallory Hulsey and Danielle Greene kept the Falcons within reach as UM trailed by just two at 15-13. The Saints managed to string together a late run to push their advantage to 22-17, but the Falcons continued to fight, cutting the margin back to 23-20. Flagler, however, closed out the set with the final two points to secure the 25-20 win and the 3-1 match victory.

The two teams went back-and-forth early in the match with nine ties and five lead changes in the frame.
Danielle Greene provided early kills while
Mallory Hulsey added to the Falcons' offense at the net. MSU Denver pulled away late with a 6-1 run to close out the set, 25-17.
The second set saw MSU Denver take control early with a string of kills and strong serving. The Falcons struggled to find rhythm offensively, totaling five kills in the frame. Greene and
Eliza Tyrrell each chipped in points, but the Roadrunners' .379 hitting percentage proved too much as Montevallo dropped the set, 25-10.
In the final frame, Hulsey and Greene provided key swings to keep Montevallo in contention early, but the Roadrunners continued to steadily widen their lead before winning the set, 25-14, to secure the match.
