Men's Lacrosse Voted Second in Preseason Poll, Three Falcons Named Preseason All-PBC

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Peach Belt Conference has announced its preseason all-conference members alongside the 2026 Preseason Coaches' Poll with Montevallo tabbed second in the league.

The Falcons were voted second in the five-team league with a total of 12 points and one first-place vote after finishing third in the 2025 regular season standings. Montevallo trails only Flagler, the defending PBC Tournament Champions, but remain ahead of third-place Lander, fourth-place Alabama Huntsville, and PBC newcomer Virginia State.
 
A trio of Falcons earned Preseason All-Conference honors with seniors Matthew Boas, Alex Egorshin and Brandon Shaffner named to the preseason squad.
 
Boas, a senior attacker out of Nanaimo, B.C., Canada, tallied a total of 54 goals to lead the Peach Belt while adding 18 assists for a team-best 72 points in 2025. In his 16 starts, Boas added a total of six man-up goals while picking up 27 ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. The senior's 2025 campaign also featured a 2025 PBC Co-Offensive Player of the Year Award while being named First Team All-PBC and earning a USILA All-South Region Honorable Mention and a 2025 USA Lacrosse All-America Honorable Mention.
 
Egorshin remains one of the top keepers in the Peach Belt after leading the conference in almost every statistical category with a 10.97 goals against average, a .601 save percentage, a total of 236 saves and an average of 14.75 saves per game. The Hoover, Ala. native added his third PBC Defensive Player of the Year award in 2025 while earning a First Team All-PBC selection and a 2025 PBC Elite 18 honor. Egorshin was also named USILA All-South Region Second Team, USILA All-America Second Team and USA Lacrosse All-America Honorable Mention.
 
Shaffner, a senior faceoff specialist from Louisville, Ky., earned his first preseason honor after a season that saw a Montevallo record 139 ground balls that led the league. The senior also posted a .697 faceoff win percentage to lead the PBC and rank third nationally while adding a league-high 230 faceoff wins on 330 attempts. Shaffner set another Montevallo record with 28 faceoff wins in Montevallo's meeting with Emmanuel on Feb. 1, 2025. Shaffner's 2025 season culminated in a Second Team All-PBC honor, a USILA All-South Region Honorable Mention and a USILA All-America Honorable Mention.
 
The Falcons open the 2026 campaign at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31 on the road at Emmanuel.
