NEW ORLEANS, La. – Montevallo Cross Country had four athletes named USTFCCCA All-Academic athletes, while the men's team was named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
In order to qualify individually for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-30 percent of their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers. Teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period and compile a team score at their respective regional championship meet, among other qualifiers.
Along with being named an All-Academic Team, Montevallo Men's Cross Country had Ryan Cox and Jackson Howse named as All-Academic athletes. Cox earns academic honors after posting a 3.72 cumulative GPA in pursuit of an Exercise and Nutrition Science degree. He placed 67th in the South Region Championship with a time of 35:13.63 (10k). Howse picks up academic recognition after posting a 3.94 cumulative GPA in pursuit of a Biology degree. He placed 47th in the South Region Championship with a time of 34:04.53 (10k).
On the women's side Sable George and Ava Taylor were named All-Academic athletes. George earns academic honors after posting a 3.39 cumulative GPA in pursuit of a Speech Pathology degree. She placed 57th in the South Region Championship with a time of 23:32.4 (6k). Taylor earns academic honors after posting a 3.75 cumulative GPA in pursuit of an Exercise and Nutrition Science degree. She placed 70th in the South Region Championship with a time of 23:59.5 (6k).
