MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo softball team opened the 2026 home slate with a pair of dominant run-rule victories over Miles on Tuesday.

GAME ONE

Taylor Lloyd earned her fifth win of the season, allowing no hits and no runs, while striking out seven in four innings pitched. Berkley Mooney pitched the final inning and recorded one strikeout.

Montevallo started strong in the bottom of the first, as Ariana Pinder hit an RBI-double to score Bentlee Stirne and put the first run on the board. Riley Tyree followed that up with an RBI-single to score Pinder, putting the Falcons ahead, 2-0. Becca Benton followed Tyree's single with a two-run homer to stretch the lead out to, 4-0. The Falcons continued to pour it on in the first, as Taylor Rogers hit a two RBI-single to put the Falcons ahead, 6-0.

Montevallo added a run in the bottom of the second, as Benton hit an RBI-single to score Stiner, putting the Falcons ahead, 7-0.

Miles got on the board in the top of fifth, hitting a solo home run, as the Falcons led 7-1.

Montevallo responded in the bottom half of the inning, as Madison Fargo hit a leadoff solo home run to put the Falcons back in front by seven. Skylar Johnson scored on a passed ball later in the inning to seal the, 9-1, run-rule victory in game one.

GAME TWO

Kinsley Byrd and Addy Tillery combined to throw five shutout innings in game two. Byrd allowed two hits and recorded three strikeouts in three innings, while Tillery allowed one hit and recorded three strikeouts in two innings.

Montevallo scored in the first inning once again, as an error led to Makayla Peters scoring the first run of game two. Benton came up to the plate and hit her second home run to give the Falcons a, 3-0, lead.

The Falcons continued to push in the bottom of the second, as Emma Hawkins brought three runs home with an inside the park home run. Benton hit her third homer of the day to drive in another three runs, putting the Falcons ahead, 6-0.

Stiner added a two-run homer and Emma Faulk hit a two-RBI single to stretch the Montevallo lead out to, 13-0, in the bottom of the third.

Tillery sat the Bears down in order in the top of the fifth to secure the dominant, 13-0, victory in game two.
