Men's Lacrosse Heads to North Greenville to Close Road Trip

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's lacrosse is set to close its four-game season-opener road trip with a visit to Tigerville, S.C. to take on No. 20 North Greenville on Saturday, Feb., 14.

Montevallo heads into the weekend's matchup with a 1-2 overall record after opening the season with a 21-6 win at Emmanuel on Jan. 30. The Falcons then headed to south Florida for an 11-4 loss at RV Embry-Riddle before falling to No. 19 Saint Leo, 24-10, on Feb. 8.
 
Montevallo has tallied a total of 35 goals on the season while adding 25 assists for 60 points through three games. The Falcons average 47.3 shots per game while leading the nation with a total of 118 ground balls for an average of 39.33 per game. Montevallo has posted a total of 45 caused turnovers on the season while posting a .609 faceoff win percentage and a .836 mark on clears. Defensively, the Falcons have allowed 13.66 goals per game on a total of 119 shots and 83 shots on goal. Montevallo's opponents have also tallied a total of 29 assists for 70 points through three games.
 
Matthew Boas highlights Montevallo's offense with a team-high 18 points on nine goals and nine assists. The senior's 6.00 points per game rank 12th among NCAA Div. II leaders. Montevallo newcomer Lucas Mullen ranks second on the quad with 10 points on six goals and four assists. Defensively, Will Richardson and Collin Schuster lead Montevallo with four caused turnovers each while Richardson adds a total of three ground balls and Schuster posting six on the season. In the net, senior keeper Alex Egorshin has posted a total of 39 saves on 109 shots faced for a .520 save percentage.
 
North Greenville opened the season on the road at Anderson on Feb. 7 and took a 19-10 loss in Anderson, S.C. In the season opener, the Trailblazers fired a total of 35 shots with 25 shots on goal while posting a total of 23 ground balls on the day. Defensively, NGU added a total of six caused turnovers while adding 25 saves on 67 shots for a .568 save percentage.
 
Caden Castle led NGU with four goals in the season opener on six shots with four on frame while picking up a ground ball. Carson Fuchs ranks second on the team after the first game of the season with a pair of goals on six shots with three on goal. Defensively, Cole Jenkins and Wesley Sharper each tallied a pair of caused turnovers while Cole picked up four ground balls. In the net, Matthew Desmond posted a total of 25 saves on 67 shots faced for a .568 save percentage.
