CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Montevallo softball team picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, defeating Ohio Christian (10-9) and Young Harris (6-3), to close the Chattanooga Invitational.
GAME ONE
Three Falcon pitchers saw time in the circle, as Berkley Mooney earned her first win of the year, allowing two earned runs and striking out three in five innings of action. Taylor Lloyd pitched the final inning to pick up her first save.
Ohio Dominican struck first, plating three runs in the top of the first to take an early lead. Montevallo responded in the bottom half of the inning, as Bentlee Stiner hit her third homer of the season to cut the deficit to 3-1.
The Panthers added three more runs through the next two innings to stretch its lead out to, 6-1.
The Falcons looked to respond in a big way, down five runs in the bottom of the third. Lillie Piersol got things started with a leadoff single and Taylor Rogers followed that up with her first collegiate home run to cut the deficit to, 6-3. Montevallo continued to push, as Emma Hawkins and Stiner hit back-to-back singles. An RBI-single from Ariana Pinder scored Hawkins and Stiner ultimately scored on a wild pitch to make it a one run contest, 6-5. An RBI-groundout from Riley Tyree scored Pinder, tying the game at six runs apiece. Becca Benton put the Falcons in front for the first time all day, as the senior hit her first home run of the season, giving Montevallo a, 7-6, advantage.
Mooney sat the Panthers down in order in the top of the fourth, and the Falcon offense went back to work as Pinder hit a two run-single to stretch the Montevallo lead out to, 9-6.
The Panthers went back on the offensive, scoring three runs through the next two innings to tie the game, 9-9.
The Falcons looked to regain the lead in the bottom of the sixth, as Taylor Rogers got things started with a one-out single. Emma Hawkins followed that up with an RBI-single to score Rogers and put Montevallo back in front, 10-9.
Lloyd entered the circle for the Falcons in the top of the seventh and shut the door on the Panthers, securing a Montevallo, 10-9, victory to open the day.

GAME TWO
Taylor Lloyd had a solid game in the circle, earning her fourth win and third complete game of the season. The senior allowed three runs in seven innings pitched, while striking out five.
Montevallo struck first in game two, as Taylor Rogers hit an RBI-single to score Kiley Christopher in the top of the second. Later in the inning, Bentlee Stiner hit a two RBI-single to score Rogers and Kiera Olson, putting the Falcons ahead, 3-0.
Montevallo added to its lead in the top of the fourth, as Stiner doubled to center field and Tyree brought her home with an RBI-groundout to put Montevallo ahead, 4-0.
The Falcons continued to push in the top of the fifth, as Christopher walked and Madison Fargo followed that up with a two-run homer to put the Falcons ahead, 6-0.
The Mountain Lions got on the board in the bottom of the sixth, plating three runs to cut the Falcon lead in half, 6-3.
Lloyd shut the door on Young Harris in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the Montevallo, 6-3, win.
